Go to www.cnn.com and view the clip about a minister who is "anything but Christ". The FLDS aren't alone in worshipping a man as god.

Here is a move for you. It is long but you can pause it when you need to. Take the good (Or what feels good to you) and leave the rest.

Yes, I have complete confidence in my sourse. It came from someone who is still "in" and who is not prone to idle gossip. By they way they were talking the person I heard this from wondered if my little brother was one of the ones asked to leave.

I heard this second hand, the day I posted it. I agree "a whole rush" may have been a little much, but I do know there was more than one and they were told not to live in Utah or the Vegas area as I mentioned before. It may have inclded all of Nevada, and maybe Arizona, too. I do not know.

I do not know anything more than my original post pertaining to this subject.

If someone else knows anything else about this or can correct the rumor, by all means, please do so.

ATAR_i said...

Do you think it's possible or plausible that someone is giving flase rumors to 'faithful' followers to see what flushes out.

See what winds up on this board?

See who talks?

Anonymous said...

bbgae, you little brother was at CMC as usual today.

bbgae said...

Oh. That's why, it was on this thread.

Thankyou, 11:19- whomever you are.:)

Atar, you may be right, and I thought about that myself. If anything comes of it, I'll let you know. (I certainly hope not, however!)

This is a post from the "Share the Light" blog which I found very interesting!!

I had a very interesting experience this week. I was visiting Salt Lake city, and had some time to kill while I was waiting for an appointment downtown, so I went to Temple Square and looked at some of the attractions.(Funny that a sacred TEMPLE is a tourist attraction!!) I walked though some of the buildings, but of course some of them are off limits to non-mormons, even walking up to the temple is not allowed anymore. Anyway, I took the tours and listened to the speeches, etc. The workmanship is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, by the way. But I was left with the feeling from the tour guides that because I am not LDS, and I have no interest in joining them, then I am "lesser" than they are. (I was VERY tempted to tell them I am from the FLDS!! That would have been interesting!) But to me, it seems like if a church feels like they are the "true church" of God, set up by Christ Himself, then they would be more open and Christ-like to those who are not members, doesnt it?

Anyway, so then I went over to the Cathedral of the Madeline, which is a Catholic cathedral. It also is very beautiful. It struck me as very interesting that while you cannot even walk up to the Mormon temple, the Cathedral was wide open to ANYONE, no matter what their religious convictions! In fact it is ENCOURAGED to seek the shelter of a "house of God" even if you are not a member of the church!! And the "Father" Monk that was there was very gracious, and I was not left with the feeling that he felt I was "lesser" because I am not Catholic. Nor did he pressure me to come and join.

One thing that I found intriguing was the carvings of "witchcraft" symbols on the side of the Mormon temple. For example I was always told that an upside-down pentagram (star) is a sign of Satan. But there are MANY of them on the temple. Also, there are moons in various lunar phases depicted, which are also considered "occult" or "wiccan".

Another thing that struck me as "odd" from a "Mormon" perspective, is the amount of STATUARY that was not only ON the temple, but also in Brigham Young's personal homes and properties. Hasn't it always been "No other Gods before me" and that statues are considered idols? When I was young, I was chastized for having a porcelain doll or even ANY dolls at all because they are "idols" to the "saints"!! (Warren even teaches that stuffed animals are idols, and that children should not be allowed to play with them!)

Am I the only person that has noticed these things, and found them odd? I would love to hear any feedback!!

Another interesting observation...
Joseph Smith, then Brigham Young taught to gain entrance to the highest heaven they become "Gods" through plural marriage....but as the poster observed first of the commandments is "No other God's before me.

20:1 And God spake all these words, saying,

20:2 I am Jehovah thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them, for I Jehovah thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation of them that hate me,

20:6 and showing lovingkindness unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

Seems to me there is only "One God".

I was tempted to become Catholic, too. But then I watched The Exrocism of Emily Rose, and I decided they were just as full of witchcraft as anyone else and gave up on religion all together.

Curios?????

BBGAE;

Why would you base your opinions of a religion on a MOVIE??? We all know that Hollywood makes things up to sell entertainment!! I am not an advocate for the Catholic church, but I DO think that if you feel drawn to look into any religion, you should not base your judgement on what HOLLYWOOD portrays it as!!

C'mon, girl!! How true are all the movies and even the news reports about ANYTHING?? I think if you want to experience the Catholic church, you should go into one and form your own observations! Although personally, I find more God in my backyard than I do in any church, at least I can say that I have given them a shot!

P.S. What the hell does the term "witchcraft" even mean, exactly? As far as I can tell, it is used to scare people from checking out other religions!! When I was a kid, witches were grown-up women who used anger (screaming and yelling out of control) to get the kids to mind them! I think we all know people like that! So...what is a witch to one person is just a bitch to another.......

My main objection to the Catholic faith is their handling of Mary.
People pray to her, instead of God.

The church is slowly transforming from their past, but there is still alot of ceremony.

I do believe I will see many Catholics in heaven.

They believe Jesus is the Christ and author of their salvation through faith and grace.

I saw a Catholic priest on TV. A TV program had him as a guest. He told told the interviewer that he was hired as a consultant for a Hollywood movie. He asked the producers and actors if they believed in God. No one raised their hand. He asked if they believed in Satan, they all raised their hands.

That speaks volumes to me about Hollywood and movies.

And I am not Catholic.

I am a confused about the two "C" Churches, I am just wondering what is the difference between a Christian and a Catholic?

Don't they both believe the same?

Can someone answer my question.

Anonymous said...

Christian's beliefs are that through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, whoever believes in him will be saved. Catholics believe more so in worshipping the "saints" and Mary the mother of Jesus. You have to confess to a "Priest" and do certain things to go to heaven. Christians do NOT believe in worshipping any man, and that God will have "no other Gods' before him"....

Thank you for your response.

This was something that I have always wondered about.

I think the Lord will care more how we lived the Golden Rule than what religion we belonged to, or what ordinances, callings, rituals, religious services etc we participated in, or house of worship we went to or through.

The way we acknowledge God in our lives is shown in how we treat everyone and everything around us, not in a title, calling, or affiliation with an organized religion.

It is not the calling that makes the man, but the man the calling.

Wife of former Jeffs' caretaker steps up, seeks child support

By Jennifer Dobner
The Associated Press
KVOA News Channel 4 - Tucson

SALT LAKE CITY -- A former key ally of polygamous-sect leader Warren Jeffs may be closer to finding his family but harmony appears unlikely.

Wendell Musser has sued Jeffs to learn the whereabouts of his wife and son. Now his wife, Vivian Barlow, has emerged, disclosing the county where they live and seeking sole custody of Levi, 2.

Barlow said Musser should have only supervised visits with Levi, according to documents filed Friday in 5th District Court in southern Utah's Washington County.

Of course I realize the idoicy of basing any real knowledge gained from anything the entertainment business presents.

I knew someone would have something to say about that when I posted last and was about to add another paragraph to my post but something came up and I had to post then and explain later.

I am liberal, in case you haven't guessed yet, Anon. I completely agree with your views of 'witchcraft'. I personally know people who will not see the Harry Potter movies (both Catholic and Christian) because they believe it contains "witchcraft."

Let's just say I watched mass on tv for a time and didn't want to do any more research into the 'church'. Also- FYI- the Exorcism of Emily Rose' was based on a true story. I will not dispute that Hollywood dramatized the story to make money, but somewhere in there are a few grains of truth. I really don't have the inclination to investigate any religion, but I will day this: I do not like the Catholic idea (if it is true) as portrayed in that movie, that evil can overtake anyone at will even when they fight it. I prefer the way I was raised to see evil- it cannot overtake you unless you allow it to by willfully doing something you know you should not do.

Thank you, by the way, for caring about my religious views. :)

I am liberal, in case you haven't guessed yet,

bbgae, could you explain what you mean by "liberal"?
uncaduff

bbgae said...

Hey Uncaduff! Nice to see your name in blue. :)

I meant it exactly the way I said it. I believe in the freedom of choice. Usually that entails a few things that offend strongly religious people, so I don't talk about it often. In my post above, my saying I'm liberal, in case you haven't guessed. I meant I was not the kind of person who got all excited and judgmental over little things like 'witchcraft' in a movie.

Yes, I know this makes me look a little hyporcritical after my post on the Exorcism of Emily Rose. My only defense is I don't think I was really serious about looking into the Catholic Church or a movie would not have deterred me.

I am sick of religion in general. I have had enough of it to last me for the rest of my life. Maybe that is what I really meant by saying I was liberal.

Anonymous said...

I really think it is more about what people do in their religious beliefs,BB,I used to think this was just an LDS/FLDS thing, but after living in the Southeastern U.S.I have found that Evangelical Christians are made of the same preachy, judgemental, self righteous stuff."You must conform to our standard,or go to Hell"We the "Saved"must control the government. You the citizens are lost and can not be trusted to govern themselves.

bb, don't give up on religion totally, being honest with yourself and God,make up your own. it will serve you better than someone else's who may not have been so honest.

in the above post i made a serious omission. it should read, "being honest with God, your NEIGHBOR and yourself.

Well, I am a republican and a Christian.

I look at the world simply.

Evil verse good. Devil verses God.

When some one critizes my faith I just chalk it up to the devil taking a cheap shot at God.

I personally don't get offended.

I am a republican because I don't believe in taking a life of a fetus, the gay life style,(notice I said lifestyle) and I want limited government and lower taxes.

I am a Christian because I believe Jesus (God) was they only perfect sacrifice and by his grace I am saved.

I don't lump all liberals as bad, nor do I lump all conservatives as good.

God judges all in the end, I am not qualify to judge.

But I am given a mandate to follow the 10 commandments, so my political leanings are effected.

God controls governments through the people. God works through people, we are his hands, feet and eyes.

So if more people ignore the true and living God and He no longer can find "helpers" to do good, the world is heading for dooms day.

Fundalmentalism shows it's dictorial ways at all levels and faiths.

Therefore I am a spirit tester.

Uncaduff God has given you wisdom. Thank you.

Anonymous,
You say you're a Christian/Republican, are you from the FLDS? Do you live in Salt Lake? Am I being too nosey? Drop me a line....

bbgae said...

Thanks, all. Your posts were excellent.

7:16- My experience with the Evangelists is the same as yours. I believe there are good and bad (selfish) people in every religion or group of peoples there is, including Atheists. I prefer to live and let live, and I honestly believe every person has a moral compass (their conscience) and do not necessarily need anyone or anything to correct it.

Furnace- You just accurately described the very reason I do not vote. Thanks! :D But aren't liberals their own party?

Uncaduff- Thank you for the advice. And thank you for caring enough to give it. That means a lot. I am an optimist, and actually, I have all ready been doing what you suggested. I still pray. I still teach my children to pray. And I do my best to be honest. I absolutely hate to quote any kind of scripture, but I have come to learn the literal truth of this : "And the truth shall set you free".
Another reason I am liberal is because I believe we as adults should take responsibility for our own actions and do not nessissarily need the government to baby-sit us. Give us the liberty to learn from our own actions. I am pro- choice and pro life.

11:00- You seem to be an open minded, logical, non-judgemental and kind person. I think I like you.

7:07- I wish you luck on your search for Austin.

uncaduff said...

I believe we as adults should take responsibility for our own actions and do not nessissarily need the government to baby-sit us. Give us the liberty to learn from our own actions. I am pro- choice and pro life.

bb,:) :) this statement, this excellent statement of yours, proves your definitely not liberal. however, in the present political sense, pro life and pro choice are opposites. pro choice means you believe abortions are OK. pro life means you believe abortions are murder.

bbgae said...

Uncaduff-

Could you please explain why you think my statement proves I am not liberal?

I really am both pro life and pro choice. I believe women have the right to get abortions if they want to. It should not be illegal. (this is the part where the government tries to baby sit us) I can understand the reasons why some women would want an obortion. However- I cannot EVER see myself getting an abortion because I believe it is murder. The balance between the two is extremely important.

I do not think it is right for the values of the majority to be forced upon the rest of the popluace. If women want abortions, give them abortions and stop trying to save then from going to hell (if that is your belief). If there will be a consequence for it, they will pay it, not us. It is ABSOLUTELY not our place to deny them because WE might think it is wrong.

The same goes for marriage. What is marriage? A legal contract between two people. That is all. Religion has it's own various interpretations of marriage that do not apply. I believe any two consenting adults regardless of race, religion, sex, or previous and/or present marital arrangements who want the legal right to be together should not be denied. If we believe there is some dire consequence to their actions, we should realize it is OUR belief and THEIR choice- and therefore none of our business.

I also think drugs should be legalized. Put an age limit on them like alcohol and tobacco and stop making the drug lords rich and throwing away the lives of our good police officers. Let the people who use them pay their own natural consequences for using them. Create a DUI for them and be done.

I consider myself a conglomeration of opposites. That is why I chose bbgae for my name. I think I may have misunderstood the real meaning of the ying-yang, so those of you who know the real meaning, please do not be offended. bbgae= balance between good and evil. I may not alway have balance, but the good and bad are both there.
