Leona Graham Funeral

She died Tues. Funeral Today would be my guess. There are people digging at the Graveyard. I wonder if they asked Bruce Wisan if they could bury her there. I think that is UEP Land.

Uncle Ratt,Why are there no fundamentalist Mormons with the last name Wooley?Given the importance of John W.,and Lorin,I wonder what happened to the Wooleys?

Answer to Anon 12:57 pm.
There is a clan of polygamists in North Georgia, called the "Trenholmb Group".I believe you will find Wooley descendants among them,as LeGrande Wooley was their founding patriarch.

Legrande Woolley was a member of the LDS church until the day he died.

How was LeGrande Wooley an LDS member and an Polygamist Apostle at the same time?

LeGrand Woolley (along with Louis Kelsch) was called (by revelation through Lorin C. Woolley) into the Apostleship back in 1932). Both Woolley and Kelsch declined to act in those callings. LeGrande Woolley was a practicing medical doctor.

Maybe someone here can tell us on what basis they "excused" themselves from their respective callings?

Anon 9:32, perhaps you can prove me wrong, but I don't "believe" LeGrande Woolley ever founded that group now in Georgia. BTW, I knew him personally.

Anon 12:36, you are correct. He remained a member of the LDS church until his death.

I dont believe any such"Georgia" group actually exists.or ever existed.

Question for Anon.9:32a.m.
Why do you persist in accusing the Trenholm family of being polygamists? What have they ever done to you?I know most of the Trenholms, and the present generation is LDS and monogamous, regardless of what has been posted on this blog.

There was a blogger on here some time ago that claimed to be a member of the "Georgia Trenholms". I exchanged emails with him/her for some time and came to the conclusion that he/she was a fraud seeking info on the FLDS. I believe this is where the story came from. Doing a people search shows both Wooley's and Trenholms in the area but the address given me were bogus as far as I could tell. It is too bad some people can't be honest about their intentions and end up casting aspersions on innocent people.

Fttc,Do you mean that kid Jared?
He's harmless enough. But his stories dont hold water.None of the "Georgia Trenholms" or "Georgia
Wooleys"are involved in polygamy in any way, at the present time,BTW,I've been neighbors and have had membership in the same LDS ward with both families, for over 30yrs.

Now we've pretty well established the fact that the Wooley family is no longer in FLDS,but how did Dr.LeGrande keep LDS
Church membership?I find it very hard to beleive that a practicing polygamist in Salt Lake,in 1950s,could not be disfellowshiped, given the state of affairs in the fifties.Almost as hard to beleive as Polygamists in Ga.

Anyone have an idea?

Strange that you would know his name. He never posted it here...

Anon 9:21

Dr. Woolley was able to lead his double life because he had so much inside information on high ranking Church leaders. They were afraid of what he knew.

That is not to say that many in the leadership didn't want him out. It's just that it would have cost them more than it would gain them. For his own part, Dr. Woolley kept a low profile with his plural families. So the arrangement worked out just fine.

He was an active Apostle with the fundamentalist movement, but he kept his activities very quite.

So the alledged "Georgia Group" is ficticious?

Anonymous said...

The Wooleys in Georgia are not descended from LeGrande, but are LDS descendants of Lorin's first wife. Most are quite shocked and appalled that some anonymous busy body tried to connect them with the FLDS.

Only one (Guy) of Joseph Musser's
numerous children were ever involved with Fundamentalist activity either.

it is sad that you have to find out through the internet that your relative has passed away. it is even sadder that your family won't talk to you because of how you have decided to live.
