Merril Jessop Abandons Wife.

Aunt Nita Jessop was sent away from her family and grandchildren through the regime of Warren Jeffs. She has been with Merril Jessop since she was young, and now that she is old and in ill health, she is sent off with no one to care for her except for a compassionate teen-age grandson.

If this is what happens in our old age, why stick around?

not to put a damper on your filthy attemt to slander, and a marriage between a man and a women is not really public property, but because it is interesting to note, that It is my exhusbands signature upon the papers. There is no question about this. He filled out the forms. He signed my name. Dr. Astle is one of the best doctors i have ever met. He was good to me. I shall always remember what he did for me. I guess i have to make allowances and forgive the rest of the staff in Dr. Twiggs office and Dr. Smith. It could not be possible that they knew it all. He is the one who signed the papers. No wonder they treated me like they did. I never seen the papers. I shall never see him again. It shall be a great lesson to never trust. I could have went and looked at the papers all along. I would have known then. I have to bear some of the burden. I shall never see him again. I shall not call denver again. God was doing a fine job of holding him accountable. I did not need to interfere. I shall never see him again. I am glad at this. I made a great mistake in making my marriage public. He is guilty. May my daughter rest in peace. and that is all she wrote. May the contenders find peace also.Who ever you are that is looking for sorrow, may you find peace. what is done is done. May you all find peace.

and Ruth Huth, that was a hell of a choice to give a woman; give up your home and religion for protection. You turned your back on me. my daughter is dead now.

GOOD GRIEF, Rumor!!! Is this true? I thought that if a woman wasn't worthy, her husband was to blame for not teaching her. Is it true that WOMEN are now being cast out?

What was the reason? Where is she living, and with whom? What about her children? How do they feel about it?

I sure hope this is the final straw for a whole lot of people who are trying to hang in there. I hope this snaps the thread.

You do know that Merrill is the only spokes person for Eldorado FLDS in Texas?
Ernie was but was told to “Worship from afar". Is Merrill NEXT? Good!

Anonymous said...

You mean it is OK to have Warren's older mothers, I mean Warren's older wives live at the YFZ and not Merrills Jessops.

How unfair. What will happen when Merrill has another major heart attack.

Will Jessop get kicked out and Warren get his wives and children.

It could happen.

Anonymous said...

Isn't there something in Malachi about dealing trecherously with the wife of their youth.

Could you please quote that one for us Street?

Anonymous said...

Well, if there is, then Warren will have it. He deals treacherously with the older ones and lecherously with the younger ones.

Perhaps Nita tired of the political BS and couldn't abide the mess any longer. Could that be the scenario?
Doesn't she have a son "Fred" who is kind of in the thick of it all?

No one remembers Julia Thomas? 80+ years old and kicked out... She's one of the most wonderful people I've ever met, but she believes in Winston, not Warren. God bless her for it.

Anonymous said...

I remember Julia Thomas, and she believes in kindness and is kind to me. I believe in winston. He is there is he not. Then i believe in him. Your statement is very broad and bold. I also believe in the district attorney. He is there is he not? I also believe in the sun. It rises and sets. I also believe in gentiles and jews. I believe that there are all kinds of people upon the earth. I also believe that Jesus put his law upon the earth and expected us all to live them. And I do remember julia Thomas and last i knew she did not want her named used publicly, so have some respect.

Anonymous said...

And believeing in Winston does not really say much. Just what does it mean to believe in Winston? Is that some thing like a smoking thing?

Anonymous said...

You know, believing in Winston as opposed to believing in Warren is no better. That's what started this whole mess: believing in a MAN.

I believe in God.

What Street has just quoted is from the Mormon scripture - the Doctine and Covenants number 132.

This Mormon scripture has been around for 150 years and is STILL in the Mormon Church's scripture TODAY.

Don't be fooled by the PR that the LDS church regeritates about not believing in polygamy and not praticing polygamy today.

What a crock the LDS church is.

If they (the LDS) REALLY wanted to end polygamy and distance themselves from the Mormon polygamist groups, then they would REMONE this section from their church doctrine.

Polygamy is still ALIVE AND WELL in the LDS Mormon scriptures and until it is removed, the LDS Mormon church is just a bunch of closet polygamists.

What forked tongues the LDS Saints use.

Are all these clans not related,by blood and marriage? Why do their adherants waste so much blog argueing?

No, the Kingstons are not related to the other "high status" polygamists. The other familes mentioned are almost all descended
from three post-manifesto LDS polygamists.
Byron Harvey Allred.1874-1936
Joseph Smith Jessop.1869-1954
Warren Marshall Johnson.1838-1901.
Virtualy all the "Higher Ups"in all the groups, are descended from at least one or more
of these patriarchs.

Only selfish people never have kids. They are too caught up in having what they need -- that they can not think of being responsible for a child and showing them the way to heaven. It takes a caring and loving person to be a dad and mom. Thank Goodness you realized that before you had kids.

Excuse me but I think your post is a wee bit inaccurate- according to the way that MOST people think - excluding the MORMONS.

I personally CHOSE not to have children but it WAS NOT out of selfishness, but rather out of generosity because I did not think that I would have been a very good parent.

So, instead of spitting out babies just to fill the void for the need of bodies to house the "souls of the Mormon saints" and risking being a bad parent in the interim, I chose not to bring innocent children into this world in a less than ideal situation.

You are right, it DOES take a a caring and loving person to be a dad and mom.

And it also takes a caring and loving person to NOT be a mom if the conditons are not right for the child.

Not everyone believes that this is the only way to heaven.

So before you critisize, learn about how he REST of America thinks

Anonymous said...

Yup! Selfish, selfish, selfish, selfish

So before you criticize, learn about how GOD thinks.

saar, it must be people like you who believe in continuing to have babies in spite of known genetic malfunctions that has brought on the proliferation of birth defects such as the DEADLY "Fumerace Deficiency" disease that it now indigenous - in the USA - ONLY within the FLDS.

If you have ever been around a handicapped person, they radiate God's love like no other. I am in no way saying that if there is a problem, ignore it. I don't like the idea of cousins marrying.

All I am saying is that it takes someone special to be a mom and dad. And it takes someone extra extra extra special to be a dad to 50 or more. Or a mom to 5 or more. Devoting your whole lifetime to a great cause is to be commended.
It is no walk in the park.

I am just finishing reading Carolyn Jessop's book Escape. I can't believe that people seriously live like that. For everyone who thinks that the "outsiders" are evil, we are truely not. You live in abusive, violent situations with delusional men who are CRAZY and should be in institutions. I'm not surprised that Nita is mentally ill after all she has been through in the polyig world, who wouldn't be. GET OUT ALL OF YOU!

Anonymous said...

While Carolyn Jessops book provides one view, i tend to believe it is a true view as it is backed up by other evidence.

I cannont understand how any woman can choose to lose all control of themselves and be ruled by people clearly in search of power.

Anytime anyone contested anything said by the so called prophets, all the sudden God decrees a change, does it not strike any of you as strange that God would change the rules so often, isnt he wise enough to know what works and what doesnt, He did after all create us all.

I have just read Carolyn Jessop's book and it has really peaked my curiosity about you folks, I found it totally fascinating. I live in South Africa and I have to say that the similarities between your culture and our Zulu culture are amazing. It is common practice for Zulu men to have many wives. Our ANC president has about 12 wive and 60 children. In the Zulu culture wives and children are also the property of the husband. The majority of our Zulu's belong to a religion called the ZCC - Zionist Christian Community. Just thought you might find that interesting.

I'm reading Carolyn Jessops' book right now(I'm half way through) and I'm also shocked beyond words about what's going on in this cult.
It reminds me of women in Saudi Arabia. Men there also allowed to marry several wives and threat them like slaves.
I hope more women like Carolyn will get the courage to leave this cult if not for their sake, then for their children sake.
If you are an FLDS member, try to get hold of this book, it will open your eyes: Escape by Carolyn Jessop.

Just finished reading Carolyn Jessop's book- what a page-turner, I couldn't put it down. It's sobering to think that such evil still exists in modern-day America in the name of religion. I was shocked beyond belief at the power exerted by Warren Jeffs, Merrill Jessop and their cronies. It was made even more frightening with the parallels to Nazism. I wish Carolyn and her family all the best, and only hope that Betty can "see the light"

Jesus Christ is THE Lord and Savior. I dont know where the LDS or any of this other hullaballoo comes from, nor do I care. There is a reason people are so disgusted by this polygamous way of life: it runs completely antithesis to a moral and principled lifestyle and society. The child abuse, mentally physically and sexually, will not go unpunished in the end...

i think i am going to go vomit now...

I read Carolyn Jessop's novel, as well. It is just awful to see people brainwashed in the name of the LORD.

I certainly hope that Faunita gets the help she needs and deserves. She really deserves to be shown the love of God, and to be treated with kindness and decency.

Is there a place where concerned people can donate money or goods to help the people victimized by/families destroyed by the FDLS? I may be an "OUTSIDER," but I am willing to try to help.

I don't understand any of this blog stuff, but I know one thing for sure, the only way into heaven is through the Holy Redeemer Jesus the Son of God and none of these men that call themselfs Prophets or whatever they call themself, I call them the child molester of Satan and the haters of Women (you know Satan has no love for women and neither do these men), See the similarity. I read Caolyn Jessops book and it truamatized me just reading it. They need to irradicate this religion it will cause nothing but unhappiness and depression for women. I thought their could not be a worse religion than Islam but there is its cal FLDS.

ok, i recently read carolyn jessops book, and have seen the news on cnn.... i live in england, went to catholic school, although not catholic myself, i don't practise my religion, but do believe in god, and have a well rounded view on the world. I cannot believe all this has gone on.... warren jeffs is a bit of a prick to be fair...and how these people can believe these rules (which he makes up daily) to suit himself is absurd! and would i be correct in assuming that the men at the top of the hierarchy, who get all these young girls to marry, probably aren't lookers...and in the real world, couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding, (sorry, in translation, could never get a girl in the real world to be interested in them), so they have to oppress to impress! what a bunch of wankers!!!(and don't get my started on what he got his wife to do to the cow infront of those children!!)

Blessing to All-
I also just finished Carolyn's book. Couldn't put it down since I got it 4 days ago. She has truly got to be one of the most Spirit Guided and Driven women I've ever heard of in my entire life (50 yrs. now). Bless and thank you, Carolyn, for using the mind God gave you and sharing your story so that others may gain strength from the knowledge of your challenges. I'm a practicing Anglican...and I'm sorrowed to know that Zealots will use the tranquil state of some of our lives to take advantage. Warren Jeffs is now in prison and I suspect that several more should join him, Merril Jessop being one of the first. We've got to take a stand and "stand" for something..or we'll fall for anything. Let us all pray that it will be to honor the FREEDOM our fore-fathers fought for....and our men & women in the Middle-East ARE STILL DEFENDING!!!! The Law has many challenges...let us all try to help support them however we can. (and by-the way - I'm a paralegal so I've got half a clue!)

After reading Carolyns truely incredible book, of which I could not put down the past week, I am determioned to rescue other women that are still trapped in this barbaric cult. Surely after learning that all of Warren's "messages from god" were fraudulent, people would wise up the fact that even it's leaders knew the religion was false and making a mockery of it??
Anyway, all my love and support to Carolyn and everyone else who has been harmed by this destructive way of life.

I just finished reading Carolynn Jessops book and I'm completely shocked at how religion in general can be manipulated to suit one man's needs. How can animals be slaughtered for no good reason, but to instill fear in oneself if you act out. Didn't god create these animals? Killing dogs because God told you too?? what????
It sounds to me like a man wrote the laws when he was very angry at his wife and made a wish list of the things he would like changed if he could change them. Woman not being able to complain about the uncomfortableness of pregnancy and not make noise when giving birth? Are you for real?? This is just to unbelievable!

A Quote from the Bible, the absolute truth: Revelation 22:18-19: "I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this- book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city which are descirbed in this book. " The book of Mormon is attempting to add something more to what God said was complete. It has no truth in it. Please do not put the Word of God in the same category with a book that was written by man and is being used to subject so many people to so much misery.

I am shocked that this type of child and woman abuse is allowed to go on unchecked in the USA of all places. Is it because secretly most men would love to be able to control their wives and children like these despots do? I think the USA is too politically correct in dealing with these issue's, they should close these places down unceremoniously and without explaination

Wow I just read the book Escape and will tell you I was shocked. How can people be so cruel, It appales me that we are letting this go on! I think it was a blessing they kicked Aunt Nita out!!! Run Nita as fast as you can.

What worries me the most about all of these happenings Carolyn has opened our eyes to is, that as far as the bible goes (and the mormon bible too), we are taught that god is a god of love - I don't see these affected families practising this at all - also the other posts that were on here initially seemed to have a lot of mormon people posting and this seems to have ended. Why is that ?
What support structure is there in place to teach these people that the world isn't full of evil people (yes, I know, there are definitely some) and that these men are purely narcisstic to do what they are doing to their wive and children. They are not teaching gods word of love at all and are certainly not showing it through any actions. Warren Jeffs had he not luckily been born into this unfortunate group of people, would have been regarded as a paedophile and mentally deranged in the real world. Luckily he has been caught.
Betty, I do hope you come home to your amazing mother and a wonderful world of joy and love that does exist in normal life. Sadly your dad is not the person you want him to be.

I just finished reading Carolyns book and I am shocked things like this are happening in the world! The sad thing is that when "outsiders" try to help and improve the situation like what happened in the raid, it only strenghthens these memebers because they are lead to believe we are trying to destroy the "chosen people". It's a lose lose situation.
These women really are brainwashed no matter HOW MUCH they say they aren't. And it blows my mind how obviously wrong it is...God is a god of love, and equality and happiness....God has absolutely nothing to do with what is being practiced there. It doesn't even make sense! If my salvation is contingent upon someone else...i'm not sure that is much of a heaven. These polygamist men are in for a very rude awakening in the afterlife.

American taliban, right under our noses. Brainwashed from infancy, denied erudition, health care, love. Carolyn's book is just the tip of the iceburg, I am sure. Cults have no right to exist under the umbrella of God. Such demeaning fabrications , violence to women and children, condoned by the cult leader...must be abolished. This must be the way people felt before Hitler made it so obvious what he was up to..."it can't really be that bad"...well, it is! There probably is no healing for many of those born into the cult of FLDS...too far gone. But there should be help for those salvageable. It is difficult to turn the lights on if there are no bulbs.

Exactly, when you keep people in the dark nothing good ever comes from it. Only mushrooms survive in a dark environment and we all know what they grow in. This is a sad and senseless tradgedy that has take place in the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave. We all need to stand behind these poor women and children and help them be brave and free. God bless Carolyn Jessop. Doesn't matter if you consider these cults a religion, when people break the law, they should not be allowed to cower behind their so called "freedom of relegion".

I just read the book Escape and I have to say it is a wonderful book. Her story, makes you go from tears to happiness in minutes. For the FLDS men to do this to their wifes in unhuman. Why does the bible state that god mad a woman from a man. He didn't make three women from one man. He made one. Which I take as one wife or soul-mate. My husband came from sudan (am white american) and his culture believes in more than one wife, they still practice this in sudan. They do it for a different reason though. And no my husband doesn't believe that it is right in his own heart. I just want to thank the woman of the FLDS who talk openly about their lives as plural wives. I can't imagine having to share my husband. Thank you ladies.

I have read Carolyn Jessop's book (twice now) or should I say her nightmare. I can't imagine the horror and despair that must of been her's. It's so hard to fathom that so many people can blindly follow were some lead, be an advocate to something so perverse, be unable to recognise or care or feel someone else's suffering and degradation and live it everyday. My heart and thoughts to those who are still in terrible situations where they are made to feel like possessions instead of the wonderful, free thinking spirits they could be, trapped in mindless drudgery for someone who has no godlike qualities and will never get even close to the gates of heaven, their stench will make it known that they have lived as a devil and surely be sent to join him.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you..pretty simple but what a difference the world would be....Imagine

I am so proud of Carolyn for getting out of that abuse! I had NO idea it was that bad. I have fostered a few of the FLDS children, and let me tell you, they are TOTALLY brainwashed, and beaten down. They are abused in EVERY way, and if they ever come out of it, it will be a true miracle. My heart goes out to all of the women stuck in this situation. And to all of them who are happy in this, it's only because they lack the education to get out. NO ONE should have to be abused. The "outsiders" are very kind, loving people. It was SATAN'S plan to control people. Not Jesus Christ's. They are followers of satan NOT GOD! Too bad they are all going down in the end. It's the GOOD "outsiders" living the law of the land and our constitution, or what's left of it. All I have to say is to GROW up, GET OUT! Women are taking care of themselves all over the world! And they are HAPPY. NOT SLAVES!

I read ESCAPE a several month's ago and it's story has not left my mind. While doing some solo camping in Zion National Park, I decided to make the drive to Colorado City for myself, about 15 miles away. It was an eye opener to say the least. I wasn't even sure I was in America anymore. Driving around watching these people go about their daily lives, there's no doubt they put a lot of hard work into their town. Their dedication and steadfast is unwavering, and we can maybe even learn a thing or two about that from them. But, far beyond that small admiration, I felt sorry for each and every single person living there. There is a real life and real freedom they will never know. Freedom given to every American. Freedom they don't even know exists or are too weighed down via threats to even think about moving towards. They will never know it because they are so far brainwashed into this sect, that the lightbulb comes on for very few. The fear in Loss of family, status, finances and maybe the fear of the unknown is too great? The punishment if caught perhaps? The FLDS are masters and absolute experts in their art of brainwashing, trickery and entrapment, and false happiness, not religion. And while I believe there are members who are truelly loving and caring families, to the extent that the brainwashing will allow, there are certainly others who would only abuse this power. In the end, the law of the land, which the Bible commands we follow, says Bigamy (or Polygamy) is ILLEGAL and for something like this to happen in the United States in this day and age is a catastrophe. Yet, with a serious crime like Polygamy, prosecution is very hard, given the "lack" of victims who would come forward. Oh woe to those poor women, children and "Lost Boys". What can we do, honestly and being realistic, to stop this?! ...nothing...

Hey there,

Have been reading about the FLDS for years now and find it facinating... Just wondering if any of the people posting are ex-members?
I'm Australian & we have nothing like this over here however religion is becomming more prominent due to immigration etc and that scares me.
I have always been taught that being a good person is your own personal responsibility and to take pride in myself and my behaviour towards others, I do not behave out of fear of a higher power you dont need to belive in god to be a good person.
Religon is really an affliction that is destroying our communities & societies... Think of how many people have died in the name of religion & we as a civilation are to afraid to stop injustices even though the 'theories' of EVERY religion have been proven as basically fairy tales that have no basis in truth & have been scientifically disproven. I dream of a world with no religon where everyone takes responsibility for their own actions. If you would like a logical point of view have a read of anything by the internationally renowned scientist Richard Dawkins... If one person hears or sees something that's not there it's called a delusion.. If many people see or feel something that's not there it's called religon! Think logically & think for yourselves xox

I hope that Faunita is getting the love and care she so deserves. Kicking her out shows what kind of group the FLDS under Warren Jeffs (may he and Merrill burn in hell)

Um, have any of them even read the REAL Bible? The whole CULT thing is an abomination to GOD. These people are seriously sick and need either the electric chair or healing. Merrill is not at all in favour with GOD. Give up the abuse and man-made rules and follow Jesus, he's your only salvation, not some funny bloke with serious problem. The Zulus aren't a cult, they have no religion.

FAUNITA IS DEAD!

Our politicians must get rid of these bastards (Jessop,Jeffs) who are pedophiles and use "religion" to try and hide their crimes.

Education is the key to setting the girls/women trapped in these situations free-that is why these murderers and rapists (Jessop,Jeffs) will go to any lengths to see that education is limited.

This CULT (FLDS, Bountiful) embodies evil of the worst kind.
Hopefully the courts will find polygomy to be a crime under the constitution and charge these pedophiles/rapists/murderers with crimes against humanity and put them in jail where they belong.
