Lost Camera At Short Creek

I don't expect to see my wife's camera turned in, but in case some kid wants to earn $50. or so, she lost it along the motorbike trails near the state highway. When you go 4 wheel'n you can expect everything to come spilling out! You know the spot, the wash board trail, along the creekbed.

Saturday saw the removal of UEP property in the grainery towers and I was in town to photograph it. It was a different camera, so the shots were not lost. An exciting storm knocked out the power New Years Eve for nearly 90 minutes and had us wondering if some exodus was occuring in the darkness. A touch of snow and brisk winds almost made me home sick for Utah and I pondered moving back, wondering how a gentile might fair below Colorado Cities red cliffs.

Having OTS and Ruth as neighbors strikes interesting images!

One day there maybe an office of the NAACP, For Kids Sake, Tapestry Against Polygamy, Child Protection Project and who knows what else? Wouldn't diversity there be interesting?

I hear that there is a Mexican family renting the house on the corner by Mike Barlow's (LeGrande's) house. I bet they don't have it easy.

Maybe they are relatives from Mexico. Bringing in new blood line.

So, is 2006 the Year of Stupid Threads?

We who regularly contribute do a pretty good job of contributing stupid stuff. Your observation regarding Stupid Threads falls within normal boundries. Feel free to join right in and express yourself. If you get too serious you'll step on your chin.

Well that hit a nerve. There are several Martinez's in the gene pool with the FLDS.

DOUBLE STANDARDS!

The church lawyers per the news, want FLDS property siezed from Seth returned;

In a motion filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Denver, the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints indicates it wants property taken when Seth Steed Jeffs was arrested in Colorado. That property could include about $142,000 in cash.

The church also says it wants an order imposing ``reasonable conditions to protect access to the property and its use in later proceedings.''

_____

Then we note that on Saturday the Warrenites were taking down the silo's that the courts say are on UEP trust land. I was there and photographed these. Officer Barlow drove by as this was taking place. Then after backing off Saturday when investigators were on site, the work began again in the cover of night and has since been removed!

Isn't it ironic that FLDS attorneys are seeking the courts protection of what was confiscated from Seth, but could care less about a court order that has frozen the UEP assets. Someone should of been arrested and the Colorado City Police are at the top of that list.

MIB, don't be surprised if missing silos appear in pilots YFZ photo's.

Don't think FLDS has chance of snowball in hell of getting Seth's cash etc. back. It's evidence, and proceeds of possible criminal activity.

IMO you are correct, authorities should disband Colorado City/Hildale police dept.

Stay out of the Creek, Trouble maker.........

It would not surprise those of us in Texas to see silo bases being formed out then appearing as concrete slabs within two or three days. Also, we wouldn't be surprised to see silos erected on those pads overnight. YFZ might be caught up in receiving stolen equiment from the twin cities area. Stranger things than that have happened here.

Well Uncle Rulon brought his silos from Salt Lake or from his place in Sandy. If I remember right those silos are behind Uncle Fred's house and clinic?
I guess they are Rulons or Warren's to take where ever they wants them.
But the rules should be follow the rules, they are on UEP land they should stay.

Anonymous said...

Worth a second thought. If they have been been inventoried as part of UEP and they show up at YFZ then ??? gonna happen PDQ.

fttc said...

What's gonna happen? What has been done about the other assets moved from UEP property since the trust was seized? The FLDS will continue to take what they want until LE is willing to do something. This is not the first asset to show up on YFZ property. FLDS is only emboldened by each failure of LE to act.

Clap; Clap; Clap; for your confusion.

LE opens investigation of missing grain silos. Several news reports on this: http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=146476

Attorney for court is qouted in article as saying, "We think the rule of law should govern here," Shields said. "If there's a dispute, then let's sit down and work it out. But to say, 'we're just going to steal it in the middle of the night,' is not right."

This may open a way for Colorado City/Hildale PD to be disbanded if it can be shown that they aided in removal of grain silos.

IMO the silos will show up at YFZ or be sold to pay for Warren Jeffs activities.

Hey folks Warren has other places those Silos can go to.

rumor-has-it said...

Those silos and grain elevators were put together by the people of the town. I don't think it has anything to do with Warren Jeffs. We worked on the feed store and grainerys.

Who remembers the time that Uncle Fred got up in work meeting and said "I just signed a loan for so many hundred thousand dollars for a feed mill. I want you all to support it. We were all sitting at the table and Uncle Parley said there are four square men here. So we will call it 4 Square Feed Mill. This is a UEP Project. We will have those that can weld come and help today."

Thank you Rumor. Question are the silos missing also?

rumor-has-it said...

That question is for Faithful.

Last word I got was the silo bins were still there, but the tower and elevators were dismantled and gone. In a few hours they could take down the bins with the right tools and I suspect one dark night they will.

One photograph of of a Police Cruiser between the Camera and the Silo would tell the story! As it were H. Barlow and another officer were cruising and did driving around this site while the towers were being crane lifted. Calls between the police and county officials were noted in the Associated Press story as well.

Its time the fudiciary add or hire private security to inventory and document structures removed. There is to much going on for a single investigator to keep track of.

You know that Texas Temple would make quite a tourist attraction and a great theme park. When Warren goes bankrupt or when his Texas assets are frozen, maybe the county or City of El Dorado should consider purchasing the compound?

In time the money to Warren will cease and he is a man that does not know how to conserve. The defaulted lawsuits, frozen assets and a need for attorneys for his own defense soon enough, will see little excess for building his Zion. With all of the media hype, the Texas compound could very easily be transformed to a Texas tourist attraction, like Knott's Berry Farm.

Texans! What do you think??

Anonymous said...

No doubt there is a lot of interest among Texans who know of YFZ's existance. With a few ferris wheels, a roller-coaster and a few knowledgable guides the place might have some possibility as a tourist attraction. Not having been into any of the buildings I don't know if, or how they could be converted to motel space but if they can, accomodations for several hundred people at a time is certainly a possibility. Hosting Conventions might be another option, also the place might gain use as training facilities for groups who might benefit from isolation. A few amenities would need to be added, tennis courts, a golf course, swimming pool etc.

In the event of default I seriously doubt that there would be anything left out there but piles of ashes if you consider the arrogance of Warren Jeffs and the blind obedience of his followers. I fear he, like Adolph Hitler would prefer to kill all his closest followers and commit suicide rather than admit his failure to anyone. His 'God' complex wouln't allow his mortal body to function as such. Ultimately who will suffer? His poor blind followers.

I understand the Jeffs family complex in Salt Lake was revamped as a home for unwed mothers when warren decided to abandon that area. It was sold for quite an amount though I don't remember hearing exact figures.

warren has put an awful lot of money into the YFZ project no doubt. The funds however, have largely been donated by his followers and the labor has been basically free. He could turn quite a profit on the endeavor should he choose. I tend to agree with the previous poster that he would destroy it rather than see it be sold or seized. Either way it will be his followers who are the losers.

This is a lot like watching a close friend or relative smoke and drink themselves to death. You can see where they are headed but can do nothing to stop them. It gets very frustrating, and likewise all you can do in the end is hope and pray they catch on before it is too late.

Actually the old Sandy compound is not a home for unwed mothers. It may have been at one time but today it is a non-profit group offering housing for families staying in the SLC area while getting medical treatment

Common Thread’s Home Away From Home program is working to help as many of these families as possible, by providing quality low cost medical housing to patients and their families while seeking medical care.

from the 9/4/2000 KSL TV news article on "Common Thread" link it says

To buy the complex, the group, "Common Thread" must come up with five-million dollars.

That was a nice chunk of change for Warren.

fttc said...

Thank you for the correction. My info is about five years old and at the time was a pending purchase. Yes that was a hefty chunk of change. I understood at the time it was sold it was not entirely clear title though. How much of the money received was available to warren I do not know.

Maybe Brigham Young University can purchase the YFZ for a southern campus.

I sincerely doubt anyone in Schleicher County would give you a top dollar for it.

Maybe another prophet would purchase it.

But in reality. Warren would destroy it, just my opinion.
