Back To Colorado City

I thought the article dated March 1, 2006 was interesting. It contrasts some of the information I have heard in the past regarding the details of polygamy (see Laurene's wedding night).

An interesting article.

A young woman who was kidnapped & forced into a polygamous marriage at age 14 spoke out to US Congress to strenghten laws relating to sex offenders, if law passes and Warren Jeffs is convicted of the state charges in Arizona, he would be subject to new law if passed. Hope new law passes as it will give LE more tools to deal with Warren Jeffs.

Banking On Heaven

For those of you who haven't heard of this movie - read below for more information.

The inside story of the largest polygamous enclave in the United States, written, produced, and narrated by Laurie Allen, who escaped a similar polygamous sect at age sixteen.

While the media sensationalize this story, BANKING ON HEAVEN takes you INSIDE, takes you where no one has gone before, behind closed doors in Colorado City, AZ & Hilldale, UT.

Beautifully filmed and at times difficult to watch, BANKING ON HEAVEN sheds light on a culture that makes a mockery of our Constitution, enslaves thousands of women and children, and uses mind-control and fear, clearly violating democratic and human rights.

I really want to see this movie - I watched the trailer and I cried as Ruth spoke.

I haven't seen the film - I'm sad she felt betrayed.

Just to see Ruth speak - even for that short moment - was incredibly powerful.

I saw a little picture of you too faithful. I honestly didn't know who it was at first - You are so beautiful - when i watched it a second time I realized who it was.

OK - who watched BIG LOVE last night?

I didn't so I'm curious who did, and what they thought.

Webmaster:

That link above from atar_i that starts with "set aside ten minues" links to a filthy, unrelated, graphic post that could only be described as pornographic, and provides a disturbing insight into atar_i's mind.

Not olnly is it inappropriate for a general audience, it is particulary inappropriate here.

Anon 2:35 I didn't write it - A VERY CONTROLLING MAN wrote it.

I think it provides insight into the mind of a controlling man.

Does that light shine a little to brightly in your direction?

I know you didn't write it.

But you did find it, read it, dwell on it, and commend it to us.

In specific answer to your inquiry, that light does not shine at all in my direction.

In your words, "remember to scroll down and read all four pages..."

I did not.

Do you actually seek out this kind of filth to dwell upon? Please keep your shameful secrets to yourself, and do not commend them to others.

Actually I saw it on the polygamy blog.

And posted the link over here as well,

BECAUSE

It's a really controlling man - I initially was under the impression that it was a polygamist - but I think it was just used to illustrated how controlling men can get.

While the content of the linked page in Atar_i's post is indeed offensive, it should be noted that her post included the warning that the link would be repulsive. The disclaimer should have been sufficient to warn you away if didn't want to be offended. Please note that you, too, called attention to the link.

Move on.

I'm going to remove it - even though I don't 'have to'.

I posted it because I was astounded by it - and wondered what others might think.

I don't particularly care to be characterized the way anon characterized me - because I posted an article - the guy is on trial for this it's not a porno story - IT'S REAL - he's a sicko - but it really happened.

If you want to see the story go to 'thesmokinggun.com' and use the search terms 'sicko marriage contract' that should get you there.

ATAR_i said...

Yes, it sure does. I was absolutely floored when I read it.

If someone finds it erotic they need to get their head examined.

You read about three pages of it - and then he talks about attire for church (and you're like 'whaaaat?').

I guess I didn't think I was doing any more than promoting discussion. A discussion about controlling relationships - how does it go that far, how did they get to that place, why didn't she run sooner, how in goodness name did he get the the place where he would write something like that.

It gave me more questions - not about them, but about people in general.

See my above post OTS.

I'm dissapointed that was the focus. Perhaps they can work in a few more plot lines ones they get that part out of their system.

I'm just glad something like Banking On Heaven came out.

Why don't you buy a motor home and equip all sides with flashing neon signs stating just how GOOD & PERFECT you and Warren are. I am sure that everyone would be impressed. Maybe to the point that all the windows and neon lights would be knocked out by stoning. That's what was done to perverts in Leviticus. The shoe seems to fit both of you.

Big Love was ...... interesting. I grew in up CC and found the sexual element to be a bit offensive but that was just because i was raised to believe those things are sacred. But the more i think about it, its very realist or could be at least. I like how they show the man as a loving person in a commited relationship with 3 women that he loves equally. OHHHHHHH Why don't you just piss off everyone showing that. If the Nudity doesn't get people the portrayal of a man that has the ability and desire to love, care, and provide for more then just one women or one family will. GOD FORBID!

Oh, one more thing about Big Love. When they were driving back to the "Compound" it was eirie. They did a good job with the dress of the people there from there cloths, to hairstyle. The landscape didn't mimic CC to much but it wasn't suppose to. But when i saw those people in the show i was 16 years old again driving through CC. Scarry! ;)

I guess I'll have to watch it on some DVD if it ever comes out - I'm totally bummed.

I wondered the same thing, Faithful. In addition to Bill's Mom wearing pants, I also wondered about her short hair. She sure looked out of character compared to the rest of the "compound" residents.

Judging from the first episode, I think the Big Love producers are presenting an aggregation of the various polygamous sects as well as independents around the Intermountain West.

It was obvious to me "Juniper Creek" was depicting CC, however.

It will be interesting to see how the series plays out. I too hope they establish better plots and sub-plots as they go along. Otherwise, it'll bomb - which would be pretty uncharacteristic for HBO - imo.

oh don't put yourself down, no one thinks you are worth a darn.

why don't you print up the book of ots. I'm not sure you could sell any, but maybe you could give at least one copy away, to yourself.

I think you think that somehow you're Warren's undercover man. I doubt that there would be room for you there. From all accounts his Serta Sleeper is pretty crowded with little girls, little boys and his father's wives. I wonder when he gets the opportunity to go home, or if he even has a home to go to?
