MIB Smoke Free Thread! A 17 year old student, female, wants the male perspective!

An MIB free thread!

A high school student approached me to ask about the polygamy lifestyle,
from the man's perspective. While I have a bias and opinion on everything,
I am not qualified to answer her questions. She is a Senior, 17 and has
chosen polygamy as her subject for a senior project. There are plenty of
opinions by activist, but in being fair, she is not interested in our opinions,
beyond what they represent as one side to a complex subject.

She goes by the handle Cattail and will be coming on to this blog shortly.
I have agreed to stay off of the thread as I only have one wife and don't fit
her requested criteria. She may get her report published and she wants both
sides, so you decide what should be written.

All media people are liars!

If they were not before they left school, they were when they went to work. Find some one else to exploit!

oh calm down Ruth!!!
k I'm not expert and am not a plural, so maybe I don't count, but I put my two bits in where ever I can, just ask ots. Whether you feel like it is a religious duty or a perverted idea, the end result is always the same, someone gets hurt. I think they should get counseling, sign a paper stating that they are doing it of their own free will, and maybe live in the relationship (without consumating it) before they actually do the "marriage" thing. Because playing house and living "house" are two totally different things!!!

I think if a person is seriouse they would not be looking on this web. They would be asking God and praying and if they were going to marry some one they should ask a man. And if they were going to marry them, do not marry the government after all it is the man that is in the relationship. And it is there choice and why in tarnation would they want to publish this? And you are right 9:44 playing is a lot different than reality. And I have no Idea who this person you people blame every thing on too. And I think that if you can live with a person the worst they are, you love them. Be very careful you do not live user's they will use you up. And a few other women too why they are at it. And most men living in Polygamy are a lot decienter than single men. They are at least honest. God made men well prepared to take care of women.

It Looks like MIB just now replied to his own thread under Anonymous. Just couldn't resist, hah. A liar from the beginning.

To answer "Cattail" (gees, that sounds like a stripper that Jay might be consorting with):

Well, the faithful in the Work are always blessed, and the unfaithful are always, umm, let me see, oh boy, shall we say, "STRIPPED"?

Matthew 13:
47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:

48 Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.

49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

So what is it like: Sheer Heaven to the righteous, the peaceful, the sweet. But it is sheer Hell to the wicked, the vengeful, and bitter.

Details? Well now, that depends on whether you are seeking the perspective of the righteous, or the wicked, see? The righteous can describe an infinate number of things indescribable, and the wicked only the pathetic thing that they are. Just look at the Parable of the Sewer.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God, the invisible and indescribable. You may want to start by reviewing the Beattitudes, if that's the perspective you would enjoy the most. Enjoy.

A seventeen year old female...

Are you interested in being apart of a plural family?

I am looking for a wife.

Hell hath no fury.....

If she truly wants the TRUTH about heavenly matters, she sure shouldn't go to hell for the answers.

You just watch this, folks. THIS should prove very interesting, as the only "experts" on polyamy or any topic relating to the FLDS, on this blagg, at least, are these vociferous people who have a personal vendetta, or have never even met a polygamous person, or both.

Anonymous said...

Poor gal.

No one has ever explained to her how very many people before her have attempted to write the un-biased story. Since the reporters as a whole have been very unfair in their representation of polygamy and those who embrace it as a basic tenet of their religion, and I dare say almost all, if not all, of these reporters promised to give the facts as they were presented to them. And few, if any, ever resulted in a genuine, honest, truthful, and unbiased report. In fact, they were extremely partisan and they totally misrepresented the trusting individual who granted them an interview. And this only after the captious smooth operator filled the person's mind with the artful hot-air that the resulting report would be "open-minded", "tolerant", yes, even "unprejudiced". So as a result, and after repeatedly being burned, tricked, lied to, and then portrayed as a perverted bigot or a red-necked male chauvenist pig, for some reason they are a little shy and they are not going the be clamoring to be first in line to talk to yet another zealous reporter.

So all the poor student will have on this subject are the OTS's and the Ruths on the left hand, and then on the Left hand, there are the ones who have all-knowing opinions and facts, even though they have never even met a polyg, let alone lived close enough to the situation to truly form an objective opinion, and then on the EXTREME left are the people who are disaffected, and you already have their stories...they are the ones in the news telling and re-telling the same ol' story, different day.

(yawn) ho-hum.....so there goes another fruitless effort.

Well this is from a reporter.

The FLDS is a qaint religious group who follow the tenets of Joseph Smith.

They do not lie, drink alcohol, smoke, steal and cheat, or run around with wild, wild women.

They believe God once was a man, who made it to the highest level of glory.

Plural marriage allows the most faithful to climb the ladder of the highest level in the celestial kingdom, where the lowly of lowest will cater to their every whim as they produce spirit children for the next "WORLD."

The group follows a prophet of the highest moral standards who is thinning his flock of retrobates.

The women are modest in their dress and will rat out their spouses if it looks like their heaven train gets derailed by husband (s) who not cannot themselves read the mind of the holy prophet.

Of course I am referring to those still in the FLDS as followers of Warren Jeffs.

The apostates who have been kicked out or left on their own are just poor old sinners who have the greatest luck, some just don't know it yet.

Hello, this is cattail. My goodness, a proposal already? I'm really just here for academic reasons.

I am interested in hearing the undiluted perspective of a practicing polygamist for the purpose of my essay. As you can imagine, such a source is vital for a morally balanced work. What I would like to know is, what are the ethical justifications for practicing polygamy? I mean this in the most objective sense. I am also interested in hearing your opinion on whether there are some glaring misconceptions of polygamy in the media.

Perhaps some of you are aware of Kantianism or utilitarianism? In other words, do polygamists follow an absolute moral code regardless of the consequences, and does the practice of polygamy make most people happy? I would love to hear these integrated in the response, as they are a focus in my essay.

Thanks!

onthestreet said...

Okay, CAT, that counts me out, so leave me alone, yes? I'm single.

onthestreet said...

Still, I can fill you in very precisely on the ethical justifications, but hey! I've already done it. Just review my posts. My qualifications? It's a church doctrine coming from the Canon pertaining to "those who are not defiled with women:

Revelation 14:4 These are those who were not defiled with women,
for they are virgins. These are they who follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. ...
bible.cc/revelation/14-4.htm

Being single and still preparing and "waiting at the rack, hay or no hay", as the Church has taught me all my life, and seeing the PROOF OF SCRIPTURE how every prophet had many wives, including Christ Himself, I consider that very significant qualification in the Lord at least, if He is in me.

onthestreet said...

That is to say, qualification in me, IF He is in me.

Dear Cattail,

Undiluted perspective of a practicing polygamist for the purpose of my essay.

NO SUCH MALE ANIMAL HERE.

Anonymous said...

So streetie; you say "the unfaithful are stripped". Is that when they are sent away to live ON THE STREET? Then do they rant, and wail, and gnash their teeth, on blogs? Once again, you are right. By their fruits.

onthestreet said...

Yes indeed, I am a sinner, and the Lord knows my fruits.

Merycia said...

Cattail, just curious, why are you only interested in the male perspective, and if you really want to do justice to your paper, you're looking in the wrong place for source material. This blog is full of strange, confusing and sometimes even "crazy" commentary that in no way represents the practice of polygamy in general. Also, this blog is specific to the discussion of the problems of the FLDS, which is also very unique in its interpretations of Mormonism and its practices aside from polygamy.

If you want legitimate information from living, breathing polygamists, then you need to contact people who can put you in touch with them.

MIB says you're avoiding the activists, and for your paper, they really have no place, but some communities have been willing in the past to speak with academics, and have already participated in studies/papers. They will, of course, want to know the parameters of your paper, your theme, guidelines and limitations, etc. (Refer to Polygamous Families in Contemporary Society, by Distinguished Psychology Professor Irwin Altman of the University of Utah, and Professor Joseph Ginat of the University of Haifa, Israel. It is a five-year study of two polygamous communities, one urban and one rural, and it was fascinating and informative even for me, who has personal experience living polygamy. I saw myself occasionally in the experiences!)

But I'm not a man and I'm not trying to insinuate my way into your paper, Cattail, but I don't you can justifiably put together a legitimate paper with this blog as any kind of source.

Most of the people on this blog are opinionate smart-alecks, and while it can be mildly humorous (your marriage proposal, for example) at time, most of the time it is too obnoxious for me to bother checking in frequently, and even when it does present a cogent thread, it still hardly touches on true introspective, honest reflection of polygamy.

Plus, the posters are predominantly anonymous, anti, inexperienced or curious, or people who claim to represent the FLDS who are clearly not polygamous and appear to be on the fringe even in that community anyway (Ruth, OTS).

I have already mentioned one organization on this list, Principle Voices, that disseminates information. I am not trying to toot their horn or anything, but frankly, they have contact with several of the groups and I imagine they can put you in contact with real polygamists if you're interested in something more academic and expansive than this blog: www.principlevoices.org.

at any rate, read the old Morman Church books and you will have thousands and accounts of Celestial Marriage. And no need to contaminate yourself from people on this web page. And none of you know the truth about some of these people you blatitantly seem to blame all your critasisam and contamination on to.

I am not nor will ever be a polygamist. From past experience, I believe that merycia has given you some sound advice. I have found her to be objective and possessing the ability to see through the smoke screen put into place by those who aren't willing to be obective concerning polygamy. You desire information from close to the source and non-biased. Good luck, you'll need it.

onthestreet said...

Yes, Mugswamp and Manurycia are as desirable a source as a field full of...let me see,how can I put this delicately? Well, I guess cattails DO grow in swamps, especially if you put lots and lots of manure on them. But hey, cattail is MUCH more desirable to the human senses and the noble intellect if you consort with waters that have the clarity and fragrance and beauty of a joyful lake! Seek that, and you will do well.

Anonymous said...

Cattail, just email Merycia directly and have a logical conversation. I can promise you that on this blog you will get nothing but crap.

onthestreet said...

That would be the Manurcia, who has NOTHING to do with Cattail's quest, see. Cattails do far better on the shores of crystal clear lakes. Why go so far down stream that the waters are so toxic as to be fatal? Cattail specifically requested direct source material, and that means direct, right Cattail?

being defiled by women in rev 14 has nothing to do with being a virgin, it has to do with the origonal sin in the garden when adam followed after the created instead of the creator.

i am a polygamist, what did the 17 year old girl want to know? is it perfect? no, we are all sinners. is it easy? no, any marriage takes effort. is it easy being a parent to umteem children? no, and its not easy being a parent to one either. it has to do with commitment to something other than you own selfish wants and desires daily. is it portrayed well by the media? NO, but then do you really think mans kingdom is going to put a good light on the ways of Gods kingdom?

onthestreet said...

Being defiled by women is, well... Being defiled by women. God does NOT mince words. Why are you denying your responsibility and seeking defilement

onthestreet said...

To Anonymous LE "Cattail" biter (continued): "We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression". Now that you know that this "Cattail" front is 17, you are legally liable if you bite "her" bait, 'merycia" (or cia) style.

Back off Street. You are worse than the media at slamming a guy's character. And that is saying something.

IF MY CONTRIBUTIONS DO INDEED "SERVE THAT PURPOSE TO CONFUSE YOU", AS YOU SAY, THEN IT IS YOUR OWN HEARTS AND MINDS AT WORK, CONFUSING AND CONFOUNDING YOURSELVES.

"WE BELIEVE THAT MAN WILL BE PUNISHED FOR HIS OWN SINS, AND NOT FOR ADAM'S TRANSGRESSIONS".

HEREON OUT, I WILL POST IN CAPS, SO THAT YOU'LL ALL HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF SEEING IT BETTER, THE TYPE FACE BEING VERY SMALL IN LOWER-CASE. SEE, IN MATTERS OF LAW, THERE ARE UPPER CASES, AND LOWER CASES.

Street, I don't know if it is that you are a single man in that particular community (where clearly your single status is not considered ennobling), but I wonder if you are aware that you reveal your jealousy and a deep deprivation in your disdain for love and human tenderness and warmth. I'm sorry for you.

onthestreet said...

I ASSURE YOU, THERE IS NO "LOVE, HUMAN TENDERNESS, AND WARMTH" WITH DEVILS. NOBODY IS HAPPIER THAN I, IN THE PURE LOVE OF A PROPHET.

Wow Street I been told by numerous accounts that Warren Jeffs was a pettifile, but I didn't know he had gotten to you.

Merycia said...

Street, a happy man is a contented man, and that is a man who does not need to stoop to name calling and reactionary behavior. Why are you so easily triggered if you are truly basking in the love of your prophet, if no one else, and it is as satisfying as you say?

onthestreet said...

NO NAMECALLING. CHRIST REVEALS IT, THAT MANY ARE POSSESSED WITH DEVILS, AND SOME WITH LEGIONS. SO NOW YOU ACCUSE YOUR LORD OF NAME CALLING. HIS IS THE ONLY NAME UNDER HEAVEN WHEREBY MEN CAN BE SAVED, WHICH INVOLVES MANY. HE IS NOT JUST ONE THING, BUT ALL THINGS. THERE ARE MANY PILLARS IN HIS HOUSE WHO CONSTITUTE PART OF HIS NAME. "I AM THAT I AM" FILLS THE PROPHETS, AND THEN FILLS HIS HOUSE WITH THE PROPHETS, THE GATEKEEPERS OF HEAVEN. ELEVEN IS A FULL HOUSE.
