Someone asked what I think about the “new” FLDS trust. Although I haven’t read the trust document I’m pretty sure there isn’t anything “new” in the essence of the thing. The elements of the Commonwealth philosophy are grounded in the concept that the individual is incapable of “just” administration of the fruits of his or her own labor, therefore the individual’s production in a moral sense, belongs to society as a whole. The irony is that free enterprise does just that . Historically, when free enterprise has been in effect, in spite of the inherent boom and bust cycles, more people by far, have access to economic benefits than in any other system. All collective type economic schemes seem to have one thing in common, they postulate a moral need to regulate and administer the wealth of the productive members of society , because those who have wealth tend to be greedy, and it “just isn’t fair that some have and some have not”. all these schemas fail do to the fact that there proprietors, after using all the tools of suppression to stifle free self expression, find that the economy of the system is faltering. What happens next is they apply more of the same tactics that created the problem, to solve the problem. Among a society of imperfect beings there will always be injustice and abuse, why then do we want give control of our lives to others who are just as imperfect as ourselves? What better way to become just stewards of our own production, than to practice the FREE use of our talents and abilities in the production and distribution of goods and services?

polygamy is an age old system that works. evolutionist think we have grown out of it, but what is wrong with commitment to more than one woman? Most cant even commit to one.

I believe you answered your own question rather well.

Uncaduff,
Will those people living in Short Creek continue to be governed by the UEP when current matters are resolved? Does the new trust only affect those living at YFZ? Since the UEP, (and I assume this new trust) is both a religious and a secular document, and if these groups are thus governed by different documents, does the fact of the new trust not imply a social split among the FLDS? Many thanks!

In my reading of the new trust, it is for Texas compound only. It doesn't include any other Flds compound or refuge. Personally, I see errors in the way it is written, and that will have to be left up to the courts to decided if the new trust is legal.
Polygamy is ancient, but it has NEVER worked. Communes never work either, and Ill tell you why.
Commonality breeds disention. None of us are alike, and to demand a group of people be alike, think alike, dress alike, give alike, follow exact same rules alike, give unto the communal community alike, eventually causes disdain amoung the followers.
Some can and cheerfully try to follow these tenants, but eventually, bitterness, sets in. Not being allowed to feel a sense of accomplishment amoung each follower, including women and children, and for that matter men, people get discouraged or angry.
And eventually the pieces start falling apart.

uncaduff, why haven't you read it? Are all your family members out of Flds or doyou still have some members inside?
There was a Suppression hearing in San Angelo last week for all the indicited men from FLDS, all except Warren Jeffs, why do you think they excluded him?
Maybe they have chosen a new prophet?

don't you get it? all the people who were teacher's when I was growing up, sold there woman to hell and are not members of the church now. In time all the big time boy's will have destroyed there family's and be apostate too. Just like the rest of you out there......No one really wins today. It is just who is the biggest bully and can take the most and humiliate the most....

No one wins, if you sit back and DO NOTHING! I see people fighting for their families everyday.
The trust Flds had before and the new trust is fraudulent, because it serves no one except the MAN in charge.
Slavery was abolished, yet Flds still are hanging on to the issue of giving all , getting nothing, just because ONE man says that's the way it should be.

I don't need to read the new trust document to know that it's just a modified form of the old. it consists of a quasi legal document, the intent of wich is to assign the participant's right to life liberty and the persuit of hppiness, to the administrators of the trust, with a plethora of rules and by laws of how this will be done. any benifits to the "benifisary" will be at the disgression of the "trustees."

There has been a lot of hullabaloo about Wisan not wanting to let FLDS own their homes, yet from Wisans side, and actually listening to Willie and various peoples, they DONT WANT to take title, but rather feel forced by the Prophet of leader of the day to just allow it to be signed over to the "FLDS Church"

We've seen that is unlawful in several ways and wont work, why dont the people just take title and put Wisan to the test?

I think its because they are lying when they say he wont give them title. That would be unlawful to refuse them their home while giving to ex-flds, and I dont see Wisan making that mistake!?

Just some thoughts, can anybody refute that?

Indeed! Their enemy list keeps growing larger by the hour.

They have SO MANY people to blame their woes on, yet the one who shoulders the bulk of the blame sits pertly in his cell.

He has done plenty of damage, and the FLDS give him a box of Visa cards to spend on Attorneys.

Maybe if he repented and plead guilty things would turn around for them.

But NOOooooooooooooooo Warren would rather knock a brick wall down with his head before he does that!
