Linda Holm Funeral

Last Sundays meeting at the LSJ meeting house was a funeral for Don Holm's ex wife Linda Holm, she died of cancer. I understand she was Jerry Jessops daughter. I don't know much about her. But I love to follow the events of the town.

LeGrand Barlow's child was killed in a accident two weeks ago and a funeral was held for her. I just heard mention that it was Rosies child and was 17 months old.

Tho there are those that feel it sacriligious to mention any thing else on a funeral tab, I get to anyway.
I understand the FLD people were told that everyone that stole a house on the UEP was going to have to leave and I understand they are doing everything in their power to make it happen. I was told that I am in that category, despite the fact that we built our house, we stole it back ( in the FLDS eyes) My opinion is that anyone that built a house on the UEP is entitled to their house.

The thing is this government was aware of every thing that went on. The raid was a sensless thing. Every soul who built on U. E. P. land knew that it was a church building. There was no deciet. It was stated clearly and posted, that if you became disgruntled and left the church, every thing on the land belonged to the church. In my opinion every one who lives on this land, not in cmpliant with the church is a theif and a liar.

I have a problem with a church convincing young people to build a home, and then when the young person realizes what a bunch of hooey the whole thing is, they want to get their improvements for free. That makes the church one hell of a corrupt organization. If the church had implemented an honest exit clause, I would have been willing to leave.

uncaduff said...

the cause of leaving, of the majority of people who were expelled or left voluntarily,or as you say, "became disgruntled", was because of doctrinal changes by "The Church", not so much as changes in belief of the individuals. what can be said when agreements are made, then the rules are changed by the so called authorities, can any fair minded person think the agreement is still valid?

Rebeckah said...

Good point, uncaduff. If you build your home expecting a to be held to a certain religious standard and then the standards are changed by one or more members can you truly be held to be in violation of those standards? And is it reasonable by any standard for a man to be told he's being disciplined for sins which the Lord revealed to a Prophet and until he guesses those sins he's not truly repentant. The FLDS make a big deal about the Constitution. Is it Constitutional to try and convict a man without ever really telling him what he's done wrong?

The Lord gave every soul enough of the spirit of God to know when they do wrong and right. Then you only argue with yourself. The gospel principle's have not changed. from the day's of Adam to now. Can you rob your-self of justace? The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness of the earth. You reap what you sow, my friend's. No man can take what is yours by right of the Lord and no lies can hold you in his light. And wheather you go or stay, it was clearly understood; What you gave was a gift to the Lord. Would you now turn and try to rob him, because you do not feel the same as you did yesterday. It is impossible. What you speak you declare unto the Lord. There was no deciet in the matter.

Well, if the gospel doesn't change, then why do we even need a prophet? I have come to realize the only purpose a prophet has is to twist up the gospel, much like Sqeeler the pig rewriting the animal's rules on the side of the barn.

Wow, all these comments are interesting to read! I've had some good laughs reading everyone's veiw on who is right, and quoting scripture right and left. All I can think is, you can argue with a person until your blue in the face, and they wont change the way they believe. I admire the conviction of some of the people's comments I've read. I'm glad I've quit worrying if I'm right or wrong and just started living my life the best I can. Live and let live is my motto. God will be the judge, and hopefully he doesn't catch you thumbing your nose at your neighbor.

Linda did NOT die of cancer. She has had a heart condition her whole life, and has numerous open heart surgeries. She has endured more than a person should ever have to endure in a lifetime. She died from a bad heart. God bless her memory.

I find that for most people, religion is like crap. Everyone else's stinks!!!

Anonymous said...

The only time religion is not permissable is when you make it your religion to destroy other's for there religion. Mark Shirtliff is a crimnal. And most of his friends.

Anon..9:44pm is right.

Linda was born with a heart condition. She was sickly all her life...I should know as she is my first cousin. She had 4 open heart surgeries...and numerous other health related hospitalizations.

She is survived by 3 (birth)children and numerous family members. God bless her.

bruce wisan never said everyones home would be taken away. he is trying to make it possible for those who built thier houses to keep them.

and once you build something with your own two hands and pay for materials. NO DAMN prophet should be able to make you move , so he can put someone else's family in what you built.
Thats called STEALING!

When you pay Tithing can you.
decide to go get it back? The D&C explains the law, sounds like you need to read Gods law book. Ye shall NEVER get it back. To bad so SAD!!!! Or should we change the Law like they changed the words in the Book Of Mormon over 400 places.

Oh My Gosh!
I knew Edson Johnson. I can't believe he's dead.

I knew Rosie, too. My heart would be broken if my little one died.

It's good to hear news from home, even if it's sad. May God bless and comfort the families of these people.

Who is Edson Jessop and what did happen to his family?

Anonymous said...

Lets just say Bruce wisen did not say he was going to sell the land; just all the people who hired him did. No one owes him anything. Not a cent, nor is any one entitled pay those who work for him. Most of our people work day and night to keep our comunity neat and tidy. They give all they have and then some come and want to work a little and look good and get paid, why they rob the rest of there land. But they did not succeed now did they. They may do the work, but if they want paid, they must go and get a job. Other-wise what you donate to the land and curch remains with it....

A Edson Jessop is living at the YFZ parading one of his several wives and children before TV cameras after the raid.

Where are the other wives and children?

Where they left behind in Shortcreek?

bbgae said...

It was Edson JOHNSON (not Jessop) who died. According to Anon.'s post on 10/26/2008 @ 2:00.

His dad is Kim.

The Edson Jessop living at the YFZ is married to several of Orval Johnson's girls. Two of them used to be married to Morgan Bringhurst before he died, then they married Carl Young before he died and then they all married Edson Jessop.

This is one reason Texas LE had such difficulty in figuring who was who, and who was married to whom. And whose children were whose. Names, lots of similar, or same names.
I know they do it on purpose, but I doubt LE knew that when they were questioning people from YFZ.

Anon 12/11 @ 11:55 am:

No- they don't do it on purpose. There is only 50 or so different last names. And the bigger families just keep getting bigger. There are mostly Barlows, Johnsons and Jessops. And all the popular first names are the names of the prophets and the bishops or other 'faithful' men and women. So do the math, and you will find out it's just coincidence.
Just before I left, 'Uncle' Fred told the people to start naming their children unique names because even he had a hard time telling the people apart. (i.e when you say Preston Barlow, do you mean Dan's Preston, or Alvin's Preston?)
So, there is a group of children who should be about five or six years old now with some interesting names. I know of one named Bowen Arrow. I know of an older one named Tusk. These are actual little boys living or who have lived in Colorado City.

I can not believe what I am reading. I am so glad I have one husband and 3 children and 4 beautiful grandchildren. God has been good to me. Why do the men have to have so many wifes. It just crazy.

Edson K. Johnson is the son of Kim and Millicent Jessop (Edson Jessop's sister) Johnson. He was born August 25,1979 and was married to Virginia Roundy, Sam and Virginia Round's youngest daughter. He was my cousin, and a good kid.

I am correcting myself here. Edson was married to Sarah Gwen Barlow. Virginia was married to Edson's brother, Ray. Sarah Gwen is the daughter of Alvin Barlow. Her mother was the Beagley, I can't remember her name for sure, but I think it was Linda.
