The Carolyn Jessop Divorce-Nothing New Here

The Carolyn Jessop divorce, Merrill Jessop received visitation rights and probably, child support. Happens every day of the world. An unhappy marriage and she divorces him. Please, this IS NOT a new, or UNIQUE story. This is certainly happening in every town in this country EVERY day of the week.... Yes , you sisters all get together and say how BRAVE she was. But this story is a very old one, and the standard , female excuses for the marriage breaking up are all there. ITS never their fault, WHY NO, they couldn't possibly be at FAULT. RIGHT

Ms. Jessop has no child support.
She has a unique story and it has not been told in all.

She has been very reserved.

There was no divorce, they were never "legally married." She would of gotten some child support, if that was the case.

Mr. Jessop as far as I know never married any of his plural wives. Someone correct me on this one if I am wrong.

Mr. Jessop hasn't bother to see his 8 children in way over a year.

And he does not have custody!

I guess it is OK to use your children to threaten the death angel on the mom to keep her in line.

Chew on that!

divorce usually is a 50 - 50 event. She has headaches when he's amorous, burns his bacon, wrecks the car, forgets to buy his favorite cereal at the store, writes an occasional hot-check, would like a new pair of shoes or something else.

He never offers to help with the children, comes home to play with HIS toys, (race-cars, model airplanes, whatever), has another woman on the side, brings home a STD, won't pay the bills yet spends thousands on his hobbies. Shall I continue?

Carolyn Jessop is a very brave and remarkable lady who had the courage to escape from a horrendously abusive relationship with Merril Jessop.

Carolyn had to virtually fend for herself and her children once she escaped and then had to fight a legal battle with the hi-falluting and high paid FLDS attornys like the sleezy Rodney Parker.

This lady still struggles today, but she has made incredible strides to integrate into society.

Considering what she has endured, she should be called "Saint Carolyn"

To Just Me

I wish you could walk in Caroline shoes. Your post is stupid.

You must be a man.

I can't walk in Carolyn's shoes. Only she can do that. I can however walk in my own shoes and observe. By your standards the post may be stupid, but anyone who claims that a dysfunctional marriage is the fault of only one of the parties is in a state of delusion.

I actually was harder on men than on women. I firmly believe that men are more often at fault than women. Look at the comparisons. Her's are situational his selfish.

I think different situations were harder on different individuals.

Certainly being a man growing up in FLDS would have some intense struggles of a completely different nature than girls.

Whose to say which is harder, being abandoned by your parents, struggling to stay in a community who views you as a threat, or pressure to spend the rest of your life with someone you are not in love with, bear his children, and abdicate your choices to the will of another.

Very different - I couldn't say which is a harder life to live.

And, I'm certain some men and women had fairy dust, and managed to have a life that they enjoyed, and which was fulfilling for them.

I think you are the delusional one here.

Carolyn was in a dysfunctional marriage because Merrill Jessop is one mean SOB.

If you knew Carolyn, you would realize that she did everything possible to make that marriage work.

But, when your "husband" is a cruel tyrant, then nothing is good enough.

She finally had enough abuse and ran away.

Poor Texas. That despot Merrill is now on your turf.

Mean, come on anyone who has as many wifes as him must be something right. However I thought the FLDS placed women with other men when it was not working.

Men like him have many wives not because they are doing something right, but because they are greasing the palm of the right person.

Yes, the FLDS women are placed with other men, but when the women have decided that Hell is better than the life they are currently living, then they high tail it out of there - if they can.

Maybe he ought to grease up his own palm and leave the women alone considering the value he places upon them.

Seems to me that none of you know the difference between a marriage of choice in a world where divorce is taught as an option and the one that Both Carolyn, myself and other women were engaged in. They were not marriages but contracts to obey and procreate. It is never the fault of one in a marriage. It is the fault of many when a women is in that type of an arrangement. Marriage is not marriage in CCA unless you happen to be one of the few women that actually get a husband you can bond with. Most are not so lucky and end up being nothing but a ticket to the top of the religious totem pole. Then if you do get one you are able to live with, the next wife changes that, because the husband now has a younger women and a new sex partner to procreate with. Like kids in a candy shop they favor the new treat. What living hell. Keep on your toes women, you may be put to pasture at any moment by the new bride. If not then where do you stand? Are you the favorite? It is a dog eat dog world in polygamy even when they smile an pretend to like it. It's all part of the game of getting in favor. Get your exhaltation by way of sacrifice. Give up everything in mortality so you can live in the next life in the highest degree of glory. Maybe it all a sick joke. LOL

Your post admits one of the things that I have suspected all along. I admire your willingness to share the real facts concerning plural marriage. Being wife #1 is supposed to have prestige, but it apears as if all marriages are arranged at the bridegroom's convenience, papa's need for cash, and at the demand of the profit.

What a lonely existance knowing that your stature within the family has suddenly been reduced by a younger, firmer, more energetic concubine. And this occurs after you have born the SOB three or four children, made do, bowed and scraped, matured in wisdom and knowledge of how to be a homemaker and suddenly you are of less value than before. Are the wives EVER brought in to a discusion of how a family should deal with a problem or does the autocratic male figure seek advice from any but the priesthood?

Yeah, sealed in the Lake of Fire, prepared for the devil and his angels, no water, no light, no end to torment. It continues day and night, forever! Justice delivered by IAM following the Great White Throne Judgement.

Anon 8:18 - thanks,

How long were you in it?

I don't know why Carolyn left, I don't think it had anything to do with abuse but i do know they all had a problem with warren.

As for Merril, I grew up around him and always looked forward to helping him because he was such an encouraging guy to be around. I have to dismiss the rumors that there was abuse in their relationship. I knew her and realize that the abuse theory was just a buffer between her and her friends for not believing in Warren.
