FLDS Prophet Warren Jeffs may be serving life in prison, but his followers continue with their work on the YFZ Ranch near Eldorado, Texas where the group's white limestone Temple towers over the town they are building. Polygamy, the practice of plural marriage, appears to be alive and well in the Lone Star State, despite laws to the contrary.

UEP Meeting
Anyone make it to the UEP Meeting on Saturday or Sunday?
It was very well moderated and kept under control. We are trying to defend the FLDS as much as possible, but they won't show up, so Ruth and OTS don't need to shout at us for trying to persecute the FLDS. Whenever anything was mentioned that would violate the basic Constitutional liberties of the FLDS, objections were made.
Did Wisan attend? Who does take the tax money now? I supposed it was Wisan that instigated the meeting. Who organized it? Sorry for all the basic questions. I wasn't able to attend but I am interested in knowing
Roger Hoole was the moderator. Some of the proposed trustees attended (John Nielsen, Winston Blackmore, Richard Holm, and Merrill Harker). The main objective was preventing the "three wise men" from St. George from running the show, since they would be in it for the money.
The reason anything really can be done at all with the trust is the "Cy Pres" rule.
Think of it like this: If you think you are entitled to land that was not yours and never was, and you are fighting to destroy other's, you have nothing to do with UNITED ORDER. READ THE BOOKS. WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO UNITE AND HAVE ORDER? And you contend you do not follow a "One man rule" Yet you stand by "One man," your husband. Do you suppose we would follow him? You got to be joking! And there was not a meeting of United Order. I see by your complaint's that there was no United meeting where you did attend. You complain that very few showed up. And I thnk once again you need to add the 'T' TO your name calling and slander. For frankly Ruth has retired. And you do not have permission to use her name: Just add "T" TO Her name and then it will not sound like you are picking on some one. I think People can handle TRUTH REAL WELL.
In the United States, this doctrine is restricted to instances where property has been placed in trust for a charitable purpose, but the specified charity can not use the property. The court may then redirect the property in trust to a similar charity.
If One-Man-Rule was the original intent, Joseph Musser would have never signed it. The original also called for immediate disannulment if there were ever fewer than 3 trustees, which thing happened when Marion Hammon resigned. When this was brought to Uncle Roy's attention, new trustees were immediately added.
I think the original intent of the trust was to have people who thought on the same wavelength to be able to have get-togethers and acquaintances.
These were family men that put it together. To protect their families. To make a community that their ideas and life (plural marriage) was acceptable.
They had lived through the Great Depression and had watched many lose their farms and houses and wanted to to make sure it never happened to them with their large families.
The orignial founders were country folk (good old boys) that did not enjoy living in the city and wanted to be farmers (I don't think any of them were businessmen). They had all been pursecuted for their religion and ideals and thought that by having a "United Effort Plan" (by no means was it a united order)they could keep the world at bay. Each family put in their land with a idea that their children and grandchildren would see the vision and have a piece of the pie.
There was a time that they agreed to give everyone back their land. Then they decided to try again. That is why the Black Family Trust has their land. They kept it out the second time. There were others that decided that it was not for them and they sold their land and moved away. That land was bought and donated back to the UEP. Many of the Barlows and their sons bought parcels out to the "Gap" and paid on it for many years and turned it in, just to have WJ/Big Willy to sell it for pennies on the dollars.
My understanding of the reason that Marion Hammon was removed from the UEP was because he was taking UEP assets and selling them without the consent of the other members.
"What are their Fruits?" Kindness, forgiveness, giving, remembering the goodness of God, remembering whence we were organized, why, and where we're going. We studied the very roots and reason for the establishment of such a people. We find we're not alone, as God yet lives! Who are you to judge me, and who am I to judge you? If we study the mysterious workings of God, we find it's not about power, wealth, fame, nor charm; it's simply about People. It's about people from beginning to end. People learning to Love one another, helping, careing, giving, Remember the Golden Rule? Practice, Practice.

I wanted to go to conference, but I ate some bad food at dennys and got extremely sick. I did drive by though.
What UEP meeting?

Can you give a brief synopsis of the UEP meeting? What topics were discussed/presented?

The reason anything really can be done at all with the trust is the "Cy Pres" rule.
which is. . .
what was the origional intent of the trust. That's the begining, and that is where they have to start from.
Forgive me for my ignorance, but I still don't know what the "Cy Pres" rule is. Anyone elucidate?

The cy pres doctrine (pronounced as see-pray) is doctrine of the Court of equity. It allows the Court to settle a trust as near (Cy-prés) as possible to the original intention of the testator, where the original intended purpose is impossible, impracticable or illegal. This prevents the trust from failing.
In the United States, this doctrine is restricted to instances where property has been placed in trust for a charitable purpose, but the specified charity can not use the property. The court may then redirect the property in trust to a similar charity.
(Third google result after typing in cy pres)

The conference in Salt Lake was great. It had people from Canada, Idaho, Missouri, St. George, Hurricane, and Colorado City and Salt Lake.
It is amazing how much we all have in common with them. It is like meeting someone that you think "I know you from somewhere."
It's great to know people who think children are wonderful and families are so important.
The room was filled. It was alot more people than I expected.
RUTTH...RUTHT...TTHRU,--(I Like that one)...hhmmm....TURTH...HUH?............Oh, sorry. I'z jist addin T's to names....ppbbthththruth....
