cashing in on Warren Jeffs

I think if Warren Jeffs can be creative in how he takes money from these people "in the name of God" then we should start cashing in on him, "in the name of comerce." support the web site and show who's side you're on. go to www.cafepress.com/pligkidstuff

And I supose you did not have to jump far. I think you do not have to jump. Just swim in your lake of fire and brimstone.

You call sickness a will to live? What a joke! You think this is funny? keep swimming. And faithful, who are you faithful too? You did not get kicked out. Remember. And your mouth is full of lies. You call that funny?

fttc said...

For all intents and purposes Faithful was kicked out. Yeah, she stood up to warren and did not leave her house, or leave town. So what? The results are the same. Like so many others warren required her and her family to step beyond what they knew was right and they did not do it. For standing up for what they knew was right they have beeen ostracized from the community.

Where is your "Keep Sweet" theme.

That should be reserved for the red T-shirt.

And you need one for those righteous folks in Texas and else where who are treading water. Theirs need to be long sleeved, T's. Be sure they are 100 percent cotton so they will pure.

We have to think on a theme for the Street's of the world.
Black with flames, a Hell's Angel's biker theme?

Because Faitful's identity has been established on this blog I think all those who are willing to twist her words around to insult her should be willing to identify themselves also. Knowing who she is gives a perspective to her comments. We can only guess where the rest of us are coming from. And Street, you are just as anonymous as any one of us. So either identify yourself or leave your nasty insults to yourself.

For the record I have never personally met Faithful, so I don't know her. It just gets to me how unfair you are being with her. It becomes so much meaner when the attacks are aimed at a real person instead of the ideas presented by someone anonymous.

Is that site really created by plig kids? That is my only question. I love the designs - good job. I think they should have a contest for a free t-shirt. We could all submit designs - and the winner get's a t-shirt - and they get a bunch of designs (maybe even print ready).

Anonymous said...

yes, the designer is a former "plig kid" (they) haven't run and hid behind a bush licking their wounds, they have made a life and are being successful at it

Anonymous said...

what's your reference in stating that the first church was established in eden? who were the pilgrims that established the colony called "earth"? were there colonies established on other unnamed planets? if so, what were those pilgrims names and where did they come from, and where did they go?

Anonymous said...

if God fell, how can he still be god? why are these teachings exclusive to closed circles? these teachings are very confusing. If god fell and was then restored how do I know he won't fall again? no wonder these teachings are given in closed circles. if these confusing claims were given for general consumption they would be discarded. why should certain persons receive special revelation and keep them from everyone else? the whole concept sounds very much like a control cult.

Anonymous said...

I asked for reference or references to the church being started in eden. you gave me an evasive answer as related to certain ancient Jewish documentation to prove your theory. what were these documents, who wrote them? who discovered them in the modern era? who verified their authenticity? most students require proof texts if a claim is made, why should I be different?

ATAR_i said...

Well give the plig kid a pat on the back. My only comment would be to develop a few shirts for those who are not XFLDS or are perhaps slightly more mainstream - so that someone like me - could wear it around, and it would get comments and questions. (I love the atone this - but couldn't wear it around - you know what I mean?)

Secondly - I would purchase a domain name (make it catchy) and have it hosted somewhere - or forwarded to the place you are now. Marketing wise - you need to get some branding going so people can find you.

Today at work I was telling people about your t-shirts - but I couldn't remember the url (it's sort of like having a geocities home page - it just lacks that panache.)

If you have any questions please feel free to email me at

atar_i@hotmail.com

I'd be more than happy to make a few suggestions regarding domain name hosts or domain name registrants. I believe you could have the whole thing purchased and hosted for $32 a year.

I have met "Faithful Woman" and she is a remarkable lady. I believe that she has remained "faithful" to her religion in spite of the difficulties she has faced by speaking out about the unfairness experienced by her family. She has chosen to remain in a community that unfairly ostracizes her. She is very brave. She is also very bold. Sadly, that is why she is often criticized. Bravery and boldness (and speaking out against Warren) don't go over well in the Short Creek area.

She stands up for herself and her family. She should be admired, but I fear she is shunned instead.

She knows what is "Right" and she stands up for what is "Right". And she has more moxie in her little fingernail than most others in the Creek.

I admire what she stands for, because she stands for integrity. And this lady has guts because she won't cower and she won't be intimidated.

I think these attributes scare people. Well, let them scare the pants off of you who don't admire courage. Becaues "Faithful Woman" is full of courage.

She chose to "stand by her man" and keep her family together when Warren told her to leave her husband.

She did not abandon her "religion", she just "abandoned" the tyrant "Warren".

YOU GO GIRL !!!

signed: an admirer in St. George

Anonymous said...

Oh, Bull. Bravery and boldness dont go over well in the creek? How BRAVE is it to be FLDS right now?

GUTS? MOXIE? To be FLDS and try to just live your life is to be on constant guard against YOU, St. George admirer!!!!!!While you sneer and point your finger and ridicule and pass judgement on people you know VERY LITTLE about.

BRAVE? BOLD? What do YOU know? To stand ALONE in defense of ONES OWN VALUES, whether the world agrees or NOT takes GUTS! THEY should be admired, but I fear THEY ARE shunned instead. I think these attributes SCARE ST. GEORGE, as a whole!!!!

Well, put your pants on,St. George, You have nothing to fear- They don't care if you admire their courage, because they are secure in their determination to BE!!!
FW stood by her man....they stand by theirs....Get over it.

I am embarrassed by the way the "pligs" are treated right here in ST. GEORGE, and by those who decry ill-treatment of Faithful Women!!!

Hey, Cave-people! Are we really stuck back there in that era so that we can't even be NICE?

......Sorry, but I just get rankled when I see such double standards.

ATAR_i said...

Anon - I don't get that 1:38 post at all.

Can't figure out who you're screaming at and ridiculing. Are you ridiculing the FLDS, non FLDS, XFLDS - who the heck knows?

And, after all the screaming at whomever, you end with 'can't we all just be nice' and then some sort of comment about how angry you get at double standards.

I actually had to laugh at that closing.

fttc said...

Perhaps it is the mass dilinquency from Short Creek which is scaring St. George. Maybe they can't understand fathers sending minors away from home for asking the wrong questions. Maybe they can't understand a man who will leave his family behind at the word of a leader who bases his judgement on the word of a jeaulous wife. Maybe YOU don't know these people either?

Which takes more courage, to stand up to a tyrant or to live under one? Which exhibits more courage, to remain in the vicinity of the tyrants dominion while standing up to him, or to run away with your tail between your legs in submission to him when you have the power to stop him?

Anonymous said...

Atari, I caught on to that last post completely. The reason you didn't is because you have never lived in Southern Utah and seen the discrimination and outright RUDENESS shown to the pligs by the neighboring towns. I have. I used to live in the creek. And I can tell you that it took a whole lot of guts and courage to go to St. George and be pointed at, stared at, accosted, assaulted and yelled at to defend one's religion. So what anon 1:38 was saying was that it is ridiculous to say that Faithful is the only one with any braveness. What the story is is that Faithful is enduring in the creek what the rest of the pligs endure in St. George. And the fact that the person in St. George (who probably is one of the ones who accosts the pligs in WalMart) is the one applauding Faithful just brings out the tiger in anon.

Not trying to defend either way. I used to be a plig, not any more. Just wanted you to have a little more understanding, Atari, before you go laughing at people's pain.

ATAR_i said...

I appreciate the interpretation.

I was not laughing at pain. Did you not see anon's closing?

She was angry and rude, then she stated 'can't we all just be nice - I hate double standards'.

I laughed because she beautifully illustrated a double standard (which she claimed to hate)

I'm not sure why you assumed I was laughing at someone in pain. I was adressing the poster of the message who was clearly NOT FLDS or XFLDS.

Thank-you, 9:58--

I own one of the retail stores in St. George, and I am shocked at the way these people are treated on a daily basis. I am constantly reminding my employees that they are PEOPLE! And that they are, at least in my establishment, to be accorded the same rights and considerations as the "good" LDS or other customers. Is that so hard?

I know a young girl in the St. George area, 14, who is pregnant. I know she considered getting an abortion. Is it my right to treat her and her mother, who is also single, as lesser human beings? Who am I? I am just a person who was born under better circumstances. I am a person who's mom and dad taught to be kind. I guess I am the minority. Does that make me wrong?

If I smile at a person who is different from me, am I endorsing his beliefs? If I'm kind to a customer, and I am helpful, and I say come again, and I genuinely mean it, am I turning away from the teachings of Christ?

Go ahead and laugh, Atari. And I'll continue to spread cheer in an otherwise cheerless society. It takes a lot of courage to look a trusted employee in the eye and say, "If I see you EVER treat a person like that again, You are FIRED!"

"well," you say, "They were being mean first..." BIG DEAL! Who are you to hit them? This is kindergarten stuff. And obviously, St. George, as a whole, and YOU, Atari, are emotionally still in kindergarten!

ATAR_i said...

OK - clearly you DON'T get it Anons. You are 'preaching to the choir'. I never endorsed, participated, encouraged laughing or treating those who are different differently.

However, I object to a woman who flails about, screaming at everyone and being rude to everyone - all the while proclaiming 'be nice' and how she hates double standards.

I am laughing AT HER - and HER double standard (or you, and your double standard).

Since you've decided to make fun of me, clearly you think I live in Utah and am *one of those self righteous people you hate so much*.

I don't live in Utah, I am not LDS, or FLDS, and I have never laughed at one (I've never even seen one).

Since you also don't have the luxury of knowing me, you wouldn't know my background, or station in life, or history of abuse, or anything about me.

I just happened to be the unfortunate one to point out to you the nature of your own post (which, had it's own double standard).

And, since you're probably hormonal, and hopped up on your indignant horse because you saw someone being cruel - you've decided to take it out on me (I'm not sure why) but probably because I pointed out your own double standard (which clearly your ego couldn't handle).

Unfortunately - you're taking it out on me, for no good reason (except for pointing out your double standard - and finding humor in it). So, you've decided to persecute me, and I'm not impressed.

Yeah - it's cool you keep your store nice - but you're being really nasty to me, and I didn't do anything to anyone. I didn't laugh at anyone (except you - because of your own statements).

But, if it makes you happy to be nasty to me, and get all the pligs unhappy at me for all the pain they've experienced from other people - (NOT ME).

I guess I won't buy the t-shirts supporting the pligs - and open my mouth ever day at work to bring some interest and some indignance to their plight. I guess nailing me to the cross might make you feel better - but it does NOTHING to further the cause you say you support.

Congratulations - you might have done something that OTS and Ruth never did - get me to wipe the dust off my feet and leave this board. I can deal with the warrenites being nasty - but the people who you're trying to help being nasty - just kinda makes you say 'maybe it's not worth it'.

Anonymous said...

I couldnt agree more.

Atari, you are so far removed from this society that cant even follow the idea that anon was presenting, where if you were even remotely acquainted with anyone from this area, you would have caught on immediately to what she was saying. There is no one in this area who hasn't seen that.

And the screaming and rudeness were direct quotes from that St. George admirers comment.

And all Atari is doing is jumping on the bandwagon so she can get recognition. Whatever is popular, right?

ATAR_i said...

Yes, I am far removed. And, everyone I have spoken with has no idea, and therefore no interest in the plight of those in Utah.

I wouldn't call the plight of the polygamists popular (at least where I live) infact it's a relative unknown.

What I'm hearing is that because I don't live in Utah, and am not FLDS or XFLDS that my interest or motivations for involvement are strictly for recognition.

So the inverse must be true, if I did live in Utah then my motivations would be pure, or if I was FLDS or XFLDS then my motivations would be pure - correct?

I guess I do understand how you treat outsiders - I get anon's post now. People in Utah are nasty to those who are different. She's illustrated her point quite sufficiently for me - I get it.

Now I know, that as an outsider, you have to be a specific kind of outsider to endear her protective nature - and since I don't qualify she can't be nice to me, since I'm not the righ kind of different.

Anonymous said...

Atari; that's such crap. I have read your comments for a long time, and I have read little else BUT ridicule towards these people. You are so quick to jump in and reply to a post that wasn't even directed at you, and when you get caught in the cross-fir you whine about getting shot. Fine, then, MOOOOVE!!! I don't know who you are trying to help in all this, but I certainly didn't ask for your help, and I don't need your help. And as for the people in St. George and surrounding areas, they are handling the task of mistreating the pligs very well, so there is no need to assist them there.

Stick to helping people who you can help, and let those who want to mind their business do so without your help.

And if you can't handle that, you are seriously lacking maturity.

Cry me a river.

ATAR_i said...

Not crying over here buddy - I don't even know who you are.

As far as I know - I wasn't offering to help you - or are you a teenage girl who's about to be married to a middle aged man?

fttc said...

Anon 1:38

The problem here is you started your post out talking of something you must know nothing about.

"Oh, Bull. Bravery and boldness dont go over well in the creek?"

Here is where you are wrong. It takes bravery and boldness to stand up to warren jeffs. If you do you are ostracized from the community. Just because you are 'different'.

It appears you are trying to stand up for these people's right to being treated fairly which is wonderful in itself as an action. However, you posted in response to a post defending Faithful, which put a different light on your post. The Anon before you was saying that it is not acceptable in Short Creek to show your bravery in the face of warren. That is the truth.

I grew up a "plig". I am still a "plig". I am treated with respect by 99% of people I am around. I am treated with respect by all my associates that know my religious background. I believe it is because I treat others how I want to be treated. I have been with other "plig" individuals who are just as prejudiced against 'ousiders' as the outsiders are against "pligs". They are treated accordingly. I have watched some in our community win over people that were so predjudiced they would hardly speak to one our people. They accomplished it by showing that 'outsider' the respect they wished for themselves. I have been on the inside and seen how predjudice works two ways in the Short Creek community.

I applaude you for your efforts to stand up for us "pligs". But don't assume things that you don't know. Atar has at least been willing to listen to both sides. All I have seen of her posts have not been predjudiced for or against FLDS past where her religion differs with ours. I think she really is trying to understand us. She is about to be in the same situation you are as she now has a few FLDS neighbors. Just explain yourself, don't beat up on her. If you attack her in defense of FLDS you may turn her and her other neighbors against them. Then you have defeated yourself.

Anonymous said...

And YES! There are people in
Utah who treat anyone with different ideas rudely. As do the people in any state. In every society around the world, you are going to find all types of people. I am not saying that is all there are in utah, or anywhere else.
You assert that thought because you have no other recourse.

Stop whining when someone steps up and defends the FLDS. You qualify as a human being to be allowed your own opinions.

Let me have mine. Let the FLDS have theirs.

The things you subsribe to as pertaining to the FLDS are such that they could lose their freedoms. Be so careful the things you propagate. Make sure they are true. And how can you? You are not qualified to make that call.

You are obviously a very intelligent woman, Atari. You know how easy it is to pass along a rumor, and how damaging. You are not hearing all sides, so you are not in a position to judge.. This is basic, Sweet Lady.

ATAR_i said...

Anon 12:17 - are you being purposefully evasive? At the risk of being beat up again for not understanding your post...I don't understand your post.

Until I read my name at the end - I was certain the post wasn't directed at me - it didn't seem to pertain to anything I said, or any discussion we had per se.

Again - I might not be from Utah, but I do know a dichotomy when I see one - and your post had one - I simply pointed that out. You don't have to know all the issues, be FLDS or XFLDS to see that. I never claimed erudition in any topic related to polygamy - I simply responded to the last lines of your post.

Straight Shot says to,

Cry me a river, Anonymous --- you need to BACK IT OFF long enough to go back onto some of the threads and read the work Atari has done for months to help! How ridiculous and small-minded of you to try to say that just because she doesn't live in St. George or hasn't been a member of the polygamous groups to be qualified to participate in this blog or be concerned about people. If this is your perspective then you live in a sad, narrow world. There are people on this planet who can reach out and help anyone -- simply because they truly care about the well-being and safety of others. Atari is one of these people. And if you have EVER read a post from Atari where she "ridiculed" anyone, then go find it and repost it. She has maintained a level of respect and professionalism on this Blog that few could ever do. Her main concern, which should be the concern of every adult person in North America -- is to do with the abuses of the children in these communities. And you'd have to be deaf, and blind, to miss the myriad of accurate information available at this time about the hundreds of young people who have been abused and evicted from Colorado City and whereever else they are from. You don't express any concern about this?? Atari does.

She has been truly concerned, kind, wellspoken, and helpful to many people who have been on some of the threads.
Families, women, children, and even men from all fundamentalist mormon polygamous groups have been in the CROSS-HAIRS for decades. And ones loading the guns and destroying them the most effectively are their own leaders and families.

Cry me a River, Anonymous, needs to read the history again -- from the Short Creek Raid to now and then think hard about the way that -- even if the original intent of the so-called prophets and leaders had some great, pure, back to basics prinicples -- many of them have devolved into monsters that eat their own children.

Warren Jeffs and his ilk don't need anyones help to prove that pure evil exists on this planet -- and his EVIL doesn't have anything to do with polygamy itself (except from using this so-called religious directive, to control, manipulate, and destroy men who refuse to stand up and defend their own families -- and take young girls and impregnate them by the scores.)

There are the walking wounded who are out there putting their lives back together. There are some of the XFLDSers who are trying hard to put their lives together in a positive way. For that we admire and respect them. Back on one of the threads the Crying River needs to read, is a testimonial from a young woman who was married at a very young age to a man with many wives. Her statement of her life and why she was so determined to be married at that young age was treated with respect and understanding -- especially by Atari.

So if the same Anonymous is the Crying River Insulting anonymous who is firing employees for being rude to polygamous customers -- then get off your self-righteous High Horse UNTIL you have read every post Atari has taken the time and the effort to post on this Blog.

I KNOW that she has helped and comforted people (both the victims and the faithful) on this site with advice, direction for services, great questions, a sense of humor, and real concern that your attacks can't take away -- Unless you have been successful getting her to quite this blog with your uninformed, adhominem canting. And the ONLY way you are justified in making the statement that Atari is out for attention -- is if you know who she really is and can tell us where she has EVER been seen speaking publically about this anywhere??

And If you have been succesful in attacking Atari in this manner to where she decides to leave the blog -- which may have been your purpose to start with -- then SHAME ON YOU. Sometimes there is an unending barrage of repititive, twisted logic and attacks on these blogs. Sometimes young people have come on this blog so full of pain and horror at what has happened to their live and families that they are terrified of life. And sometimes the threads have deteriorated into one long fight, which is sadly non-productive.

BUT -- if THIS BLOG and the very patient Blog-master and Pilot with his pictures has helped encourage even one young person to go get help, get counselling, connect with the positive help and resources that are being created for them -- then this blog has more than served its purpose.

And in just about every incident where I have read and realized that some young person has come to this blog reaching out -- Atari has been there.

If you are truly in St. George begin so kind to all polygamous people then maybe get ahold of Elaine at the Help For the Child Brides organization and offer your help. Her organization refuses to attack polygamy itself. They are not trying to break up families but they are working hard to create resources and education for anyone from there who will access it and work to empower themselves. With your River of concern you would be a GREAT volunteer and prove you can do more than threaten to fire your employees. You can lead by example since you are right there.

There are many people who have visited this blog in pain and fear who have been comforted and helped by Atari - so until you go back and read every thread Atari has posted on to understand what she has really done -- THEN BACK OFF --WHAT HAVE YOU REALLY DONE TO HELP?????
