a question for all you well adjusted, happily married plural wives; if you didn't believe it was a commandment of God,would you still choose to live polygamy?
I'm sure this has been asked before, but I don't recall hearing any direct and honest answers.

  1. Uncle Duffy; you old male chauvanist polyg, why don't you ask the holy and righteous brotheren the same question?

  3. Well, how many men that have convinced their family it was all hogwash have had their entire family stay with them? Well, some may still stay married under two roofs instead of one.

  4. I don't know about "the"devil's gender, but the Devils who "fooling the very pure femine elect of the FLDS." are just life support systems for sets of male genitalia.

  5. Hello U Duffy,
It doesn't sound like the ones to whom this question was asked are answering. So I will throw in my two bits.

I don't know of a better reason, to live it, than that it is a commandment of God. If is was not a commandment of God, and that was my desire (to keep the commandments of God) then I am sure I would not choose to.
I believe that every person must live according to the light and knowlege they have, in order to come to God at the Judgment day and have no regrets.

  6. I also once believed other peoples
interpretations of the bible was correct. Then I started reading "other books" I found out why they didn't want me or others to read "other books' Because it showed me that there is no "right" religion.
It's all about loving and caring about each other. And about us all being equal. Male, Female, Color, nationality. Think about it. Don't it make sense God would want us to be equal and love each other?

  7. There are many Christian Polygamus that do not believe the book of mormon and still believe in plural marriage. If statistics can be believed then over 1/2 the world lives polygamy.
With all that, I think that with the right "best friend" it could work and make me a better person. Each person that enters your life enlarges it and I think that is the greatest thing about plural marriage, it's ever expanding and growing.

  8. You really should ask the men the same question. To answer your question, I am not married, but I plan to be someday.(And I do believe in Celestial marriage) And if it wasn't a commamndment of God, I certainly would not enter and live it.

  9. 3:47, then my suggestion would be; since entering into it will be a very serious life changing decision, be very sure that the belief that it is "a commandment of God" is based on truth, rather than propaganda induced emotion. you may not know it, but your most precious possession , is your God given liberty. virtue and integrity lose most of there value if not practiced through free will and choice. if you engage in an unnecessary venture against your free will, your integrity is compromised. if you enter into a spurious matrimonial relationship, your virtue will be compromised.
it is not not a sin to question.
it is your right to know the truth.
God will not deceive you, if you ask HIM for the truth, for the sake of knowing the truth for the purpose of living your life by it. thats my opinion, for what its worth.

  10. PS. 3:47.
as for asking the Men the question, it goes without being said, that a virtuous man would not knowingly enter into a relationship that would compromise the virtue of the participants.

  11. "a question for all you well adjusted, happily married plural wives;"

You didn't get many replies from the above described types, maybe well adjusted, happily married plural wives are just an urban legend.

  12. I have heard these women are ordered to be happy.

I like your comment that no virtuous man would demand the moral compromise of anyone- that includes demanding women view him as a god and themselves as his "wives" (read "mistresses'--or better,sex-slaves, etc)

    In my view,
these relationships do not resemble marriage, I have heard that the women who leave these groups and finally find someone that is committed to just them realize they were not in a real marriage while in the cult.

  13. A very content wife in a plural marriage here.

If it weren't a commandment of God, I would still remain in the marriage.

BTW, we aren't Christian,LDS, Muslim, Jewish or belong to any other mainstream religion. We are very much agnostic.

  14. good answer. by the way, whats your name?

  15. God placed within each one of us a deep burning desire to be filled with His love and His Word, which by the way, is the Bible. Maybe the fog will lift if you read it. He lets each of us make the decision to choose Him or the world. Jesus leads to everlasting life, the world leads to everlasting death. You choose. If you ever read Christ's words in the New Testament you would know the real truth, because his words pierce your heart.

I pray that each one of you that are involved in one of these crazy polygamist families sees the light and gets out. How long will women be fooled by controlling, self-seeking men? They are an abomination to God and man alike.

  16. So, why can't women practice the fine art of polygamy?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Polygamy or polyamory?

The New Age-y agnostic types subscribe to polyamory, not polygamy. They say there's a difference.

One is rooted in this romantic love ideal, and the FLds polyg is rooted in a man self-seekingly trying to get to heaven, devil-may-care what the 15 year old chid bride thinks.

Both are wonky if you ask me and rooted in selfish gain.

  18. I would like to know where in the Bible it promises eternal salvation to those men and women who enter plural or celestial marriages? And, where does it ask women to be unquestionably obedient to their husbands as a means to Heaven? The Bible I read promises eternal life to those who accept Christ as their Lord and Savior and live for Him. Jesus has already paid for our sins. We need to be obedient to our Heavenly Father, not a false Earthly prophet. And men, God did say that men should be the head of the household, but he also commanded that men love their wives as God loved his church. Please read the Bible and follow God's word, not false Earthly prophets.

  19. I agree with the last question. If polygamy is such a devine blessing, how come women cannot have multiple husbands?

    ReplyDelete
  20. they can, and get paid for it. it's called prostitution.

  21. No,no,no,no uncaduff ... that's not marriage either! That's just getting lucky with fringe benefits! ;0)

  22. Well, actually, we are not FLDS but we are practicing plural marriage. We do not believe it is a commandment or necessary for salvation, merely that God allows it to meet the needs of the family. We see the best way to grow our family is through more than one wife. I was sick of being just one wife trying to do it all. I want to help and be helped and thus share the work of family life with a sister wife. Well adjusted? I believe I am. I have a college education, a career, and am quite happily married.

Our 2nd wife is educated and also has a career. She is decidedly younger than me, though we certainly will have none of that child bride business here, which in my humble opinion is the root of the problems in Eldorado. I am 36 and she is 22 and our husband is 38.

As to our husband, he is very kind and caring. It was not an easy decision for him to agree to a 2nd wife and the responsibilities that go with it. I had to convince him as it was me that wanted a 2nd wife for him first. Yes, he is a fair person and he does not take this lightly. He is absolutely responsible for us financially, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Big load to bear. It is most decidedly not about the sex.

Happy Plural Wife in TX (but nowhere near Eldorado)

  23. Though all the fuss in El Dorado is due to under aged girls in arranged marraiges, polygamy is widespread in the US though not publicly spoken about.
Not in their defense, but many religons and societies declare children to be adults at 13 to 15 years of age in this country. It's still against the law of the land in most cases for them to marry but not illegal for them to engage in sexual activity with others within 3 years of their age group. There are exceptions in the US where 14-16 year olds are allowed to get married with parental consent. The age of consent also varies from state to state from as young as 14 years old. What were these legislators thinking?
On another note how many relationships are polygomist in nature and happen all the time with men having 2 families miles apart, women participating willingly in these relationships.
How many times does the situation occur where a woman will move a friend and her children into their house because they needed a place to live and the friend eventually enters into a sexual relationship with the husband when the wife is not around?
There seems to be a natural tendancy for men and women to engage in these activities all over the planet. Many years ago I knew 15 year old girls having sexual relationships with 18-24 year olds, male students having sex with teachers, mothers having sex with their sons friends, mothers having sex with their daughter's boyfriends, senators having sex with pages, presidents having sex with interns, bosses having sex with their secretaries, the list goes on and on,mailman ,cable guy ,phone guy, neighbors, cousins, siblings. As much as things change it seems they are still the same.

  24. What is problematic about the polygamist argument (well, one problem among many) is that it fails to consider the fact that contemporary statistics demonstrate that more women cheat on men than men do women. I've read arguments for polygamy that suggest that polygamous relationships are 'natural' and legitimize the women that men would be cheating on their wives with anyways. This does not recognize the prevalence of female cheating. Both from researching the matter, and from my personal experience of things (seeing it happen around me), women cheat too! They just seem to be much better at it (at not getting caught).

  25. As long as adult, educated men and women CHOOSE to live in a stable polygamist relationship, why not. America is a free country. BUT, it just makes me vomit, if "RELIGION" is used as an excuse. God is great and loving, and HE does not want brainwashed slaves, but human beings that willingly want to love him. I cannot see a great difference between the demanding god the FLDS cites and the kind of Allah of muslim fundamentalists or the "God" of inquisition times ( I am born and raised catholic!)

  26. The wives are not allowed near the computers.

50 year olds impregnating 12 year olds ??? We should be worried about the incest and inbreeding.

It is a sin against all the GODS and GODESSES

  27. Polygamy is wrong, no matter how you put it. Why would you want to share your husband. And to the men, why would you want to share the love of your life with other men touching her and doing sexual things to her. If people who practice polygamy really loved their spouses they wouldn't be practicing it. Polygamy should be banned every where. Why put your children through incest?? Eventaully they will be having children with their cousins. And that's just wrong, through God's eyes and the law's eyes. POLYGAMY IS WRONG!!

  28. agreed that polygamy sucketh... but I'm a firm believer in polyamory.

i find monogamy to be the most stifling, self-righteous, OFTEN hypocritical act of mankind to date. the fact that it is forced upon society as a norm is, imho, disgraceful.

  29. so id like to know what you MEN with multiple wives and you MEN who think you should have multiple wives think about a woman having multiple husbands WE WOMEN ARE NOT YOUR PROPERTY and we are beginnig to see after centuries of lies from christianity that the divine is both male and female (if you really do believe that WE are created in the image of the divine) THE GODDESS IS FURIOUS THAT YOU ABUSE HER DAUGHTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! and everywhere you go that you try to abuse women WE WILL STOP YOU! if you want to own somthing and feel manly go buy a damn car or a blow up doll WE ARE NOT HERE TO SERVE YOU what is truly disgracfull is that you actually believe that you have the righht to use us as breeding machines. if one of you ever shows up to try to 'convert' me ill put the fear of the goddess into you for sure! REMEMBER AFTER ALL IS SAID AND DONE IT IS WOMEN THAT HAVE THE POWER TO GIVE LIFE TO ANOTHER! all you idiot men seem to be able to do is stifle it kill it or put shackles on it.

  30. there are no words for it. All this YFZ stuff turns my stomach. Its horrifying No its not done in the name of god any more than 9/11 was done in the name of Alah. Its idiots using religion to meet their own needs and wants. If there was no religion involved here and i say that lightly they would be just a bunch of peadophiles and wife beaters. please get a grip and see that in the land of the free and the home of the brave that these women and children are neither free and have been too brain washed to be brave.

  31. *blink, blink* And...back to the original question, "..if you didn't believe it was a commandment of God, would you still choose to live polygamy?"

Seeing as I was raised Christian, in the Baptist church, therefore I don't see it as a commandment, but I don't see it condemned either(for all you bible bashers out there that are about to attack me, look up Christian polygamy, it's pretty prevalent).

However, we are not speaking of my religion, we are speaking of my lifestyle. That being, yes, I would still choose to live a life of polygamy. Happily I do.

For one, you need at least two people working jobs to maintain a house. Once they are done working for the day it is nice to come home and have dinner waiting or a clean house to come to.

I myself, also think of my husband. I have had past medical problems, a reconstructed knee, a slipped disc, a total hysterectomy, even a cancer scare that has left me layed up and unable to work or care for him at times. It's a comfort to know that he would not be left alone should something happen to me. That there would be another to comfort him and help him through his grief, to keep life going. Or even on the short term, to help me while I'm mending, but also keep the house in order and things as normal as possible.

It just makes more sense. I know that there are people that don't understand my choices or those of my husband. My family, certainly finds it different when we come to holiday dinners and it's myself, my husband, t and h, and our four children. But we are always welcomed, no one is made to feel uncomfortable or unwanted.

As the sixth of seven children myself my family was never small to begin with so it was just natural to have a large one of my own. When I was unable to give my husband children, that was yet another reason to add a wife to our house. Many people, have differing reasons I suppose, their religion among them. It simply is not mine. I hope that answered your question.

  32. "find monogamy to be the most stifling, self-righteous, OFTEN hypocritical act of mankind to date. the fact that it is forced upon society as a norm is, imho, disgraceful."

to whomever said that: sorry your trials with monogamy didn't work out, and im not being a coy bitch.

For me, monogamy, however difficult it can be from time to time, has made me exponentially stronger, more versatile, and an overall better human being. I cherish my partner in life, we work well together. We've had our share of "Why did we do this?" moments but the marriage has been overwhelmingly positive and was the right thing to do, even though we basically got married on a whim.
If I hadn't married just one man I'd be one messed up cuckoo bird.

  33. I personally do not want to share my husband with anyone else. I can care for him and love him enough. I understand what these others believe and that is their choice. There really is only one judge and we all meet him in the end. It is not my place to say if they are right or wrong.

  35. It really sickens me that these pedophile men are using religion as a means to fulfill their illness. What REALLY bothers me is that in 2008 we still have women in this country that feel they are subserviant to men.I find that very sad for the future generations of young women that come form those homes. Im a huge supporter of choosing your own life path and lifestyle but NOT when it is abusive to young girls who are to young to make the life changing decisions such as marriage or having sex at such young ages. A 40 year old man impregnating a 14 year girl IS ABUSE. The god I believe in and the one that I believe the Bible speaks of is one that wants people to love and respect each other.
