Colorado City BED & BREAKFAST

C'mon this is serious stuff here! I had a call tonight that discussed the posibilities of a BED & BREAKFAST in Colorado City. The old UEP and court rulings would not allow others to occupy these homes built on trust lands, but with a new restructured, though temporary leadership, maybe its time!

In the past I have had offers of upto $200. offered by those in the media of course, to stay over night in a home in Colorado City. Someone here in this blog, that attended the March 3rd Town Hall meeting in St. George suggested sometime back the same and the concept was refreshing. While the area seems doomed by economic collapse, why not capitalize and offer services that utilize the current level of exposure?

You fix up an extra bedroom, cut fresh flowers to add to the decor, make a down home breakfast and offer a 1 hour tour! A loop through town, the city park, up the canyon, the LJ meeting hall, the zoo and a field trip to see squeaky cheese if the latter two still exist. A drive by Warren's former estate, Fred Jessops old clinic, the now famous school and lest not forget the CAVERN. I would bet the press would be the first to opt in. $100 a night to start out and see where it goes? A year from now, you might see a dozen such establishments. Something has to replace "Mark Twains".

This has to be easier than construction! You could have "How to Make A Profit" Coffee Mugs, A map of former trustee's homes, post cards and tye dye shirts! Homemade jams and jellies, the polygamous cook book of favorite recipe's, Uncle Ben's book and a bumber sticker that includes website and phone reservation numbers. Why not use the publicity and laugh at us, all the way to the bank????

It may be time to lock Man in Black into his own thread. He's writing just to see his words in cyber-space.

I have a great respect for MIB and all he contributes.

But I must agree in part that there is way to many"off topic" threads going on and they can be very distracting!!!

Lets recap on the recent events in C.C. shall we.

Shcool district raided, approx.30 police officers in C.C. the largest raid since '53.

Then 3 days later Warren loses his control of the UEP, 1st time the church has ever lost control of the trust.

Next the Cozy Cabin building is removed in very impressive time, obviously well organized.

Then the church house, potato barn, and lots of other UEP properties systematicly looted, even as we speak it continues.

2 days ago the UT a.g.'s office comes out and asks local citizens to document and report the pilaging,(probably due to Washington County Sheriff's dept.doing nothing) which in fact will put them selfs in a highly confrontational situation. Thus showing the A.G.'s complete ignorance or complete lack of understanding of the situation.

So do we turn up the heat, on the A.G.'s of bolth states or do we sit back and let Warren illegaly steal, while we chit chat about nothing productive, when we have such an opportunity to make a difference.

What hillarity you speak about: A man raiding, when he is only taking what is his. What selfish people you are. Are you homeless? Do you want raids that bad? And we do not want the worlds glory. We do not want the general public here. It we did we would have settled out in the world with all its filth. I am a Morman. I believe in God. I believe in cloths and in morallity. I beleive in celestial marraige. I think it has been too, long since this nation has had war. I think the young have forgotten and not been suffeciently tought, as they do again take up the mormon exterminator cry. Goovernor Boggs tried it. There was people just like you, stirring up public opinion against the mormans, yet they did not fail. Yet God did throw it back upon the ones who threw the sword. Our president is engaged in war. YOur men come home to be buried. Can you aford war upon your own soil? I think it would be wise to count your blessings and see some great goodness in what God has done for you, before he throws your war back upon you. Warren Jeffs still owns his own propterty. He has a right to move his stuff any way he desires. I think It would be wise to not fight a battle that God has not allowed any one to win yet, Except preistood men. They hold the power. They have the right to rule. The Barlows are very honorable to be peaceable. There is no shame in being peaceable. We the people in the Curch of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints hold to our God and our religion. We suport our prophet Warren Jeffs. No man can take this from us. It is Gods given right. et mon droit

Taking what is his HA! He did not work on those buildings, what has he contibuted to the UEP. The UEP belongs to every one who worked on it, who have donated money to it, and now to watch it being plunderd by the elite is criminal.

You who think because you are "gods only choosen people" that the laws of the land do not apply to you, are in for a reality check!!!

And don't think this is religous persicution, most people I know(including law enforcement)could care less what happens between consenting ADULTS.

Go ahead and leave, run and hide, but what gives you the right to steal from those who will stay behind.

Finally, some crikers that are making sense. WJ doesn't own any property, unless he is recieving a paycheck from UEP trust and all of the trustees okayed this and then purchased the property. Which the proceeds would have been returned to UEP.

CC and Hilldale do not have to go the way of the dinosaurs. Smart investors and development can prevail. Your way of life, although it might change, will be for the good. Remember, it was the lying and deciet that got this mess started.

I do not believe that People are against your religious beliefs, but are against the sexual, verbal, emotional, physical and the stealing of public money abuses.

I believe that there is room for all to co-exist if they will just accept the diversity.

What makes you think I'm a criker?

Anonymous said...

Whether you personally are or are not a criker is really of little importance. You appear to have a level head. Solutions abound and only require that WJ is removed.

For any people to aid and abet an alleged criminal is non productive and everyone is hurt. If it's true that "the prophet will never lead you astray," if WJ is not guilty of the allegations against him, let him come forward and prove himself.

I'll bite, who has unincumbered land and a home for sale, where you have clear title, in Hildale or Colorado City? What is the square foot and floor plan? Bedrooms and Bath? Price $$$ ?

If no one here see's the value in the idea, maybe a gentile can finance the business, while those from the creek work at such an establishment?

If the price is right, its not a bad idea.

I walked away from a house worth $200K, prob up to $400 with the way land in this area is going. I would like it back. However, I don't think that very many of the big families would be able to survive without the UEP. But it looks like the UEP has fulfilled it's mission, because if the people were doing what is right (which they are not) it could with stand any attack. But since WJ changed the trust...it will fall.

It is going to be interesting to see what the State does with this trust. I think that the Mormon church will be very careful..I understand that it was formed the same way.

Have you consulted an attorney about getting your home back? I really cannot imagine walking away from an investment like that. The pressure must be so intense in order for these types of things to happen.

Who lives in your house now? Would they leave if you came back? What sorts of options do you and others like you have?

What is "squeaky cheese" mentioned in the first post? Maybe I'm too young to know? What other places existed in CC that recently changed? What did the old rock building near the merchantile used to be? How did the zoo start and where did the animals come from? How did the potatoe barn come about? What about the baby cemetary I keep hearing about, wasn't there when I was... do all babies go there? I left 10 years ago, went far away, and I'm wondering what's changed, besides WJ, since then?
